Here you will find all the information you need to have a successful year at Lourdes Elementary School! You can also see your child's agenda for information on our day to day school operating procedures.
Student Behavior
At Lourdes Elementary we work hard daily to ensure that the educational environment we create is safe, inclusive and respectful. In saying this, we expect the same from our students and how they behave, interact with each other and with their teachers. We have a PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Support) program in which we recognize all the wonderful things students do daily to show their respect for themselves, others and the learning environment. Please encourage your child to remember their role in helping promote this environment and encourage positive behavior daily.
Dress Code
While we do not have a formalized dress code, or a policy that guides what we expect students and staff to wear on a daily basis, we do encourage and expect students to come to school dressed appropriately. This means, not wearing clothing that depicts violent images or drug or alcohol paraphernalia. We permit hats to be worn daily and don’t mind it if students wear their hoods up either. We recognize that what we wear is often an extension of who we are. We want our students to feel comfortable and welcome. This ultimately translates into their ability to engage in school, make friends and encourage attendance. Please do your part to ensure your child is dressed appropriately when coming to school. This includes wearing clothing that is appropriate for the weather as well. We do spend time outside during the school day, so students should be dressed appropriately daily.
Parking Lot Use
Our parking lot is a one lane and one way area. It is very busy in the mornings and during dismissal at the end of the day. We want to ensure all of our students are safe when entering and exiting the school. Here are a few reminders about coming into our parking lot during these busy times:
- Buses arrive first in the morning and at the end of the day. Bus students enter and exit the school first. If you are picking up your child please wait until the buses have exited the parking lot before proceeding towards the main entrance to pick them up. If your child requires extra time or assistance exiting or entering your vehicle please park in a designated parking place and help them from the car to the school entrance.
- When approaching the main entrance you will notice the pylons set up. These are there to create a safe space for students as they enter and exit the school. Please avoid this area.
- When approaching the main entrance, please do not speed as there are children present in the area. Please be cautious and aware of our students.
We are a Nut Free School
The safety of our students is most important to us! Therefore, we are asking you not to send any products that contain nuts or may have come into contact with nuts as we have a severe nut allergy in our school. If you have any concerns or questions about this, please contact us at the school.
Emergency School Closure Procedure
There may be times when we need to close school due to weather, road conditions, power loss or other school emergencies. When this happens, you will receive a message from the school via school messenger. The closure will also be updated on our Facebook page. We will then begin calling you directly from the school letting you now when and why we will be closing. Please make every effort to ensure your contact information is current and up to date in the event we do need to close the school, or get in contact with you for any other reason.
