Hi! My name is Laura Curtis and I'm a science and technology teacher. I have completed degrees in Biology, Education, and Technology Education at Memorial University as well as a Masters in Biochemistry at the University of Guelph. As you have probably guessed I love science! And stemming from that my teaching philosophy is very simple:

Teach and learn science, for the love of science
Teach and learn science, for the love of science
Everyone should have access to science education regardless of background, ability, or interests and yet many people do not. There remains a stigma that science is too difficult or boring. A "cult of seriousness" high school science teacher Tyler DeWitt calls it in his TED talk (linked below) as he implores fellow teachers to "make it fun" in the science classroom. So that is what I try to do! I aim to run my classroom in a way that challenges the science student yet keeps their interest and fosters life long science inquiry. So let's have some fun this year (and maybe learn something along the way)!
