Our First Day of Kindergarten!

In Science, we have been learning all about living and non-living things!
We had lots of fun becoming little Science Detectives as we sorted pictures into living and non-living groups and went outside to see what living and non-living things we could “spy” in our school environment.
We even brought two plants into our classroom so we could take a closer look at their roots! We learned that roots are an important part of a plant because they help take in water and nutrients from the soil.
We are having so much fun learning about the world around us!
In Math we also learned about shapes.
We went on an 'I SPY' hunt and found lots of circle and square shapes in our classroom!!
Keeping our BODIES and MINDS healthy while doing YOGA!!!!
What a GREAT way to start each afternoon!!!
In Religion, we met a puppet friend named Mina. Mina is Muslim and we learned about the Aqiqah, a special naming ceremony celebrated by many Muslim families.
We then read the story 'Chicka Chicka Boom Boom' by Bill Martin Jr. and John Archambault. We had so much fun exploring letters and names before creating our very own name trees!
It was a wonderful way to celebrate our names and learn about different traditions.
We read 'Mr. Brown’s Magnificent Apple Tree' by Yvonne Winer and had so much fun bringing the story to life through role-playing!
We stepped into character, used our imaginations and had a wonderful time acting out different parts of the story. It was a fantastic way to deepen our understanding of the characters and events while building confidence, creativity and communication skills.
There were lots of smiles, laughter and enthusiasm as we brought Mr. Brown’s magnificent apple tree to life!

We learned how to compare numbers using the math language same as, more than and less than. We had so much fun playing a memory game while practicing our new math language!
LEARNING TO CODE!!!!
We learned ALL about BUS SAFETY!
We had a great discussion about how to stay safe when riding the bus, watched a fun video and talked about important bus safety rules. Then, we got the chance to hop on a real bus and practice what we had learned! We learned how to safely get on and off the bus, where to sit, how to behave while riding and why it is important to listen to the bus driver.
We are now bus safety SUPERSTARS and are ready for our next adventure!
Now we’re ready for Ms. Clancey to take us on a FIELD TRIP!
On Orange Shirt Day we talked about the importance of showing kindness, love and acceptance for EVERYONE.
