HTH - Updates and Reminders (September 15th, 2026)
Dear Families,
Please see the following updates and reminders. We ask that you please review the information below and have a discussion with your child if necessary. If you have any questions, or require clarification, please let a member of our office staff know.
Traffic and Parking Lot - Thank you!
We would like to thank our students, staff and entire school community for their patience and efforts to reduce traffic and increase our parking lot safety. Changes were made this past week to our processes which resulted in all students (including buses and student drivers) leaving our parking lot by 3:20 - a 10 minute wait! As we continue to refine our procedures to create a safer and more efficient parking lot, notices will continue to be sent to families as reminders.
Thanks again for making our school a safer place for our students!
Bus arms/signs are engaged during dismissal (3:10 - 3:20). At this time, no vehicles may pass a bus in our lot.
Staff and Student Drivers must wait until 3:20 to leave our lot - once buses are released.
All drivers are asked to yield to buses as they enter and exit our parking lot.
All students/families are encouraged to avail of busing, or when required, carpool with friends and family.
Families are asked to arrive at the school between 8:50 - 9:05 and 3:15 - 3:30 for pickup and drop off. Arriving before these times can create considerable line ups in our neighbourhood, preventing buses in arriving and leaving our school.
Picture Day! - Wednesday, September 16th
School photos will be taken on Wednesday, September 16th! All staff and students are required to have their picture taken (further information from NLSchools copied below)
Student photographs taken on Picture Day will be added to the student’s PowerSchool record and may be used by authorized school and student transportation personnel for school administration, student identification, and transportation-related purposes. This may include helping confirm a student’s identity when arranging or providing student transportation services. Access to student photographs is limited to authorized personnel who require the information for their role.
If you have questions about the collection or use of student photographs, please contact a member of our administrative team
HTH School Showcase - Meet the Teacher Open House (6:00PM - Thursday, September 17th)
Our annual Meet the Teacher night will be taking place on Thursday, September 17th beginning at 6:00PM. This is an opportunity for families to meet their child's teachers, view their learning spaces, and meet some of our community partners.
Further information will be shared as we approach the date and student volunteers are welcome to help! If your child is interested in volunteering, they can leave their name with a member of our office staff.
Terry Fox - Walk for the Cure (Friday, September 18th)
HTH's Terry Fox Walk will be taking place on Friday, September 18th. Students and families who are able are asked to please make a nominal donation of $2.00 to help support this important cause. Keeping with tradition, we will also be hosting a BBQ during our lunch hour to celebrate the day and promote a greater sense of community. This event is open to HTH students only, but once again, volunteers are appreciated! Families can also donate directly to our school by visiting the Terry Fox website: Click Here
