Mr. A. Hicks
I am the teacher for the skilled trades program at Gander Collegiate, this is my third year teaching this program at the school. I have been at Gander Collegiate since September 2015 for the first 4 years I taught Physical Education. Prior to coming to Gander Collegiate I spent 3 years teaching the skilled trades program at Lakewood Academy and 1 year teaching skilled trades at Riverwood Academy.
I am from Musgrave Harbour and graduated high school from Gill Memorial Academy. I attended Memorial University where I gained an Undergraduate Degree in Physical Education with a minor in Mathematics. As well as an Undergraduate Degree in Intermediate/Secondary Education with a Diploma in Technology Education.
I spend quite a bit of my time coaching and have a passion for sport. I am most commonly found on the volleyball court or a softball field when coaching, however I enjoy a broad range of sporting activities. When I'm not teaching or coaching I am chasing and enjoying time with my children, Camryn and Ryker.

Occupational Health & Safety 3203
This is a technology education course that allows students the opportunities to get an understanding of the rights and responsibilities under Occupational Health and Safety legislation. There are great opportunities to hear from presenters on many different safety topics, and gain a better understanding of the importance of safety in the workplace.

Power & Energy 3201
This is a technology Education course that allows students an opportunity to explore the basic theory of small 4 stroke engines with hands on application, as well as exploration of alternative energy sources.

Design & Fabrication 2202
This is a Technology Education course that allows students the opportunity to explore the concepts of the engineering and manufacturing sector, where students create projects on a CNC Router and 3D printer using 3D Computer Aided Design software and Computer Aided Manufacturing Software.
