Air Transport Management
This is a 3-credit course. From this course, the students will learn some basic concepts about air transportation and some advanced knowledge about airline management. The knowledge the students are gaining from this course can prepare them for a career in the airline industry. There are five topics that will be discussed in the course:
(1) Introduction: the development of air transportation, characteristics of the air transport industry, and policies and regulations in the industry.
(2) Airline management: current situation and future development of air carriers, the air passenger market, and the air freight market.
(3) Airport management: the airport operation and departure and arrival processes and management.
(4) Regulations: Subsidy and regulations (safety and price).
(5) Aviation and environment: environmental impacts of aviation and future challenges.
Air Passenger Service Management
This is a 2-credit course. This course focuses on the introduction of the process of air passenger services. The students will learn knowledge regarding ground operation and in-flight service. There are four main issues about this course:
(1) Basic concepts of service management and their applications on air passenger services.
(2) Ground operations.
(3) Ticketing.
(4) In-flight service management.
Aviation and Environment
This is a 2-credit course. This course focuses on the introduction of the impact of climate change and the relationship between aviation and the environment. The students will learn knowledge regarding the impact of aviation on the environment. They will also learn the strategies to mitigate the aviation impacts. There are four main issues about this course:
(1) The background of climate change and its impact on transportation.
(2) The impact of aviation on the environment: noise and emissions.
(3) The method of calculating the aircraft carbon emissions.
(4) Local air quality.
