VRS and Retirement

VRS has several plans that members have been placed on at the time of employment. The retirement benefit is based on your age, creditable service and average final compensation at retirement using a formula. Please find information below regarding your specific retirement plan through VRS along with other retirement planning options. You may also refer to the VRS Plan Comparison Guide to understand the differences between the plans. We encourage all employees to create a VRS account by visiting HERE.

VRS Hybrid Plan Resources

The hybrid plan applies to most members hired on or after January 1, 2014, and to VRS Plan 1 and VRS Plan 2 members who opted into the Hybrid Plan during the special election window. The hybrid retirement plan is a combination of two types of plans: a defined benefit plan and a defined contribution plan. These plans form the components of the VRS Hybrid Retirement Plan.
