Group and Individual Counseling

Group Counseling

Group counseling gives students a chance to work with other students their age on a common concern they may be facing. Groups are formed once we are aware of an area of need within a group of students. Students are invited to participate in a group topic based on teacher and/or parent input and/or if there is an occurring behavior hindering their best school performance.

*Student participation is contingent on parent permission.*

Topics include (but are not limited to):

Divorce, Coping Skills, Self-Esteem, Social Skills, Study habits/skills, New Student, Grief and loss.

Individual Counseling

Individual counseling is provided to students who would benefit from a more private setting due to their need(s) and/or there is not a group topic being offered at that time that would be to their advantage. All students have access to the school counselor to address any issues that come up during their school day. Parent permission will be needed should a student need/want to meet with the school counselor for subsequent sessions to address the same need.

*It is important to note that individual school counseling services are meant to be a short-term (6-8) weeks and is not to be confused for long-term therapy.*

Please contact Mrs. Carreras if you feel your child(ren) would benefit from either of these services.
