A Trusted Space, Redirecting Grief to Growth has been created for educators, parents, and students by the non profit All It Takes.
There is no protocol for a global pandemic. No fire, earthquake, tornado, or active shooter drill prepared us for this. There is so much confusion. Teachers feel powerless and unprepared, parents are overwhelmed and nervous, and students, feeling disconnected and uncertain, are disengaging at alarming rates. All this while educational leaders scramble to figure out how to support all aspects of their students’ education… social, emotional, and academic.
The logistical solutions may be blurred but one thing is clear as we head into the new school year: Trusted and safe relationships make navigating the hurdles easier, for everyone. You are not alone.

The 43-minute film features teachers, parents, students, and renowned experts including Linda Darling-Hammond and Pedro Noguera, among others. The accompanying research-based SEL curriculum provides a practical, empathetic, and scientific understanding of how trauma impacts behavior and learning, and how to manage it within any classroom setting.

Research based lessons and activities to create Trusted Spaces in 5 days. The lessons are based on CASEL’s 5 core SEL competencies and include, a lesson, experience, and processing, (in-person, virtual, or hybrid settings), so these critical SEL concepts support students’ social emotional wellness and healing both in and out of the classroom setting. Based in All It Takes’ primary framework, Notice Choose Act®, students and teachers will create Trusted Spaces together by creating atmospheres where everyone feels safe, is accountable, and understands their unique brilliance and worth within the collective whole.
