GSAs Build Power

GSA clubs, or GSAs for short, are student-run organizations that unite LGBTQ+ and allied youth to build community and organize around issues impacting them in their schools and communities. GSAs have evolved beyond their traditional role to serve as safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth in middle schools and high schools, and have emerged as vehicles for deep social change related to racial, gender, and educational justice.

A growing body of research confirms that the presence of a GSA has a positive and lasting effect on student health, wellness, and academic performance. It can also protect students from harassment based on sexual orientation or gender identity, and improve school climates for all students in the long-term.

It Gets Better

The It Gets Better Project exists to uplift, empower, and connect LGBTQ+ youth around the globe.  Growing up isn’t easy, especially when you are trying to affirm and assert your sexual orientation and/or gender identity. It can be a challenging and isolating process – but, the good news is, no one has to do it alone.

BE AN ALLY

Hollaback! is a global, people-powered movement to end harassment — in all its forms.

They believe that we all deserve to be who we are, wherever we are.

Source Hollaback ... What’s worse than being targeted with harassment because of your race, sex, religion, color, gender, size, orientation, disability, age, or origin? Being targeted while surrounded by bystanders who see what is happening, but then do nothing.

It doesn’t have to be that way.

At this moment in history, we are witnessing a spike in disrespect, harassment, and hate violence. As bystanders, we need to be especially vigilant and aware of what disrespect, harassment, and hate violence look like in order to be able to stand up and intervene at a time when people need it most.

You can make a choice to actively and visibly take a stand against harassment. The Five D’s are different methods you can use to support someone who’s being harassed, emphasize that harassment is not okay, and demonstrate to people in your life that they too have the power to make our communities and workplaces safer.

The 5 D's of Bystander Intervention

The goal of National Block It Out Day is to block negativity from our digital lives and, by doing so, end cruelty, homophobia, LGBTQ+ discrimination, racism, hatred, shaming and online violence. Each #BlockItOutDay millions of people create a chain reaction by participating in and spreading the word to their friends and family who Block Out cyberbullies, haters and trolls

Although this is a one day campaign, consider the point of view expressed. Any day ... you can block it out.
