Communication

Home School Communication During Closure

Hello parents, friends and children. We, the school staff would like to offer yourselves and your children the opportunity to communicate with the school via email. We have set up specific email addresses for this which you can see below and this will be our primary method of communication over the coming weeks. Please understand that this is not a Covid19 hotline and we will not be manning the inboxes 24/7 however, we will try to respond in a timely manner.

Predicting how this will go is difficult as we have not operated in this way before however, we feel it would be nice to offer the provision and perhaps this experience might help us learn new and more efficient ways to work together in future. Class teachers will monitor these inboxes and wherever possible, a teacher from within your child's year group will respond. Please note, this will happen within the normal operating hours of the school day so you should not expect email responses on weekends or evenings however, feel free to send them at times that suit yourself.

You may wish to ask questions about learning, accessing resources, share some work that you have done by attaching it or direct us to a website you have created to present your home learning... now there is a challenge!

Why Is My Child's Teacher Calling?

Believe it or not, we teachers actually love talking to your children, yes, even your child! They make us laugh on the toughest of days and they really do feel more like our extended family. We like to hear what they have been getting up to, all their silly stories and proud moments - to see them grow and develop into the fine young individuals that they are. Suddenly, all this has had to stop and while we all understand why it has to be, we would like to say hi once in a while...

During this period of extended isolation we are going to try and make a call to your home once a week. This is not intended to be an invasion of your lives or an insult to your skills as parents, it is simply to try and keep a little normality and to help the children cope with what will inevitably be a very emotionally challenging time.

Wherever possible, the call will come from your child's teacher however, there are likely to be some occasions where this is not possible and either another teacher or assistant will make the call. If there is anything we can help or advise on during these calls relating to home learning or school, please feel free to ask but I ask that you understand, there are many things we don't know or can't help you with. We don't know why your internet is slow or why it won't load on your tablet, and most importantly, we can't discipline your child if they are misbehaving for you as we won't be able to see if they are sat nicely on the naughty step...

NB: Some families, we might call more than once a week and you will already be aware if this is the case. Again, this is a supportive measure and not intended to be invasive in any way! Please understand, any actions we take are always in the best interests of our children and in line with local or national guidance. Please contact school if you wish to discuss this further.
