The Sensors Laboratory contributes to and supports several interdisciplinary centers and initiatives that extend research, education, and workforce development beyond the laboratory. These programs engage academic, industry, and government partners through dedicated organizational structures and external platforms, while maintaining close intellectual alignment with the laboratory’s research in sensing, power, and complex engineered systems.
The GET-FIT Center is an NSF Industry–University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) in the planning phase, focused on grid-enhancing technologies for transmission, large-scale integration of energy resources, and workforce development. The center aims to advance collaborative research and industry engagement in support of resilient, efficient, and future-ready power systems.
The Power Systems Engineering Center is a research and education center focused on power systems, sensing, and data-driven approaches for modern electric grids. The center supports interdisciplinary research, student training, and collaboration with industry and government partners on challenges related to grid monitoring, reliability, and emerging power system technologies.
The Future Power Academy is a workforce development initiative focused on professional education, technical bootcamps, and continuing education in power and energy systems. The academy provides targeted training programs designed to bridge academic research and industry practice, supporting skill development for students and working professionals.
