The Calendar of Planned Units is to show I have put thought into how I will plan and implement my time as well as content units during the school year.
At New Collegiate Academy, the school year is organized into four quarters. In the first quarter, ranging from August 21st to November 11th, there are 10 weeks. From November 14th to January 27th totals eight weeks in the second quarter. From January 30th to April 20th totals ten weeks in the third quarter. The last quarter consists of nine weeks and ranges from April 23rd to June 22nd. The total amount of teaching days is 169; this includes professional development days, holiday breaks, performance reviews, and exam days. There are five professional development days during the school year; there are 26 days off for holidays; there are six performance reviews; and six exam days. There are also indeterminate periods for pep rallies and also unexpected weather which may result in extra days off. Class periods meet for 45 minutes (*Note: NCA class times vary depending on the day. They accommodate for Non-Block and Block periods. Every Tuesday dismissal is at 2:35). and during half days only for approximately 20 minutes. Alternate instruction should be coordinated to accommodate for shorter class periods. There is a total of 169 days of instruction.
