April 28-30, 2025, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ
April 28-30, 2025, New Jersey Institute of Technology, Newark, NJ
The HSR Team+ Workshop is an informal workshop that brings together researchers and students participating in the NASA Heliophysics Supporting Research (HSR) project 80NSSC20K1318 titled "Exploring Energy Release and Conversion in Solar Eruptive Events Using Multi-wavelength Observations and Numerical Simulations" [PI: Bin Chen (NJIT), Co-Is: Lindsay Glesener (UMN), Fan Guo (LANL), Chengcai Shen (SAO)] as well as collaborators interested in a similar line of research. This is the second meeting of the workshop series.
The workshop will be held at the New Jersey Institute of Technology from 28 to 30 April 2025. Here are the links to the meeting schedule and currently confirmed participants.

The most convenient hotel is the Best Western Robert Treat Hotel, 15-min walk from the NJIT campus and ~10-min walk from the Newark Penn Station (if you travel by train). NJIT has a contract with the hotel with special pricing, $135 + tax. We may book a hotel room for you. Please contact Dr. Yuqian Wei (yw633 at njit.edu 201-565-5886) and Ms. Cheryl James (cheryl.james at njit.edu. 973-596-5736) for assistance.
The workshop will be held in Campus Center rooms C230 (April 28–29) and C220 (April 30) on the NJIT campus. Both rooms are located on the second floor of the Campus Center, highlighted by a red star on the marked-up map below. The meeting venue is centrally located on campus. A detailed map on the right highlights its exact location.
If you are coming from the Robert Treat Hotel, you can enter through the Summit Street entrance. After entering, turn left, take the stairs to the second floor, and pass the large ballrooms. You will then see signs directing you to the two meeting rooms.
Our main office of the Center for Solar-Terrestrial Research (CSTR) is in Microelectronics Center Room 200 (Micro200), which is part of the same building complex as Tiernan Hall. On the campus map, Tiernan Hall is denoted as building #26, while the Microelectronics Center is marked as building #14 (MIC). The Maps section below further provides an annotated version pinpointing the meeting venue, parking areas, and CSTR for easy reference.

Newark is served by the Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR), 5-6 miles away from the Robert Treat Hotel and NJIT campus. It takes about 15-20 min if you ride by taxi or Uber. The hotel also provides shuttles from/to the Newark airport. Detailed information can be found at their webpage.
Traveling by train is also very convenient. The Robert Treat Hotel is within walking distance (~10 min) from the Newark Penn Station, a major train hub here serving Amtrak, NJ Transit, Newark Light Rail, and PATH (to Manhattan). The Hotel also provides shuttle from/to Newark Penn Station.
There are two parking decks on campus (see map below). If you choose to arrive by car, please contact Ms. Cheryl James (cheryl.james at njit.edu. 973-596-5736), who will reserve a parking space for you in the main parking deck (marked as parking deck #1 in the map below) on Warren St. Note the street (Summit Street) in front of the parking deck is an one-way road. You have to drive in from Colden St and turn back to Summit St, as shown by the orange arrow in the map below. When you arrive at the gate, just ring the buzz and tell the operator that you have reserved guest parking, and he/she will let you in.
