The National Institute of Technology (NIT), Warangal is the first in the chain of 31 NITs, Institutes of National Importance established by Act of Parliament. The first Prime Minister of Independent India, Late Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, laid the foundation stone for this Institute on October 10, 1959. The Institute is well-known for its Research and Development, Industrial Consultancy, Continuing Education and Training programmes for teachers, professionals and industrial personnel. The Institute entered its 60th year of the establishment on 10th October 2018. Warangal is known for its rich historical and cultural heritage. It is situated at a distance of 140 km from Hyderabad. Warangal is well connected by rail and road. National Institute of Technology, Warangal campus is 2 km away from Kazipet railway station and 12 km away from Warangal railway station.
The Department of Civil Engineering offers B.Tech programme in Civil Engineering, 8 M.Tech programmes and PhD programme. It is a recognized QIP centre since 1978. The Department has well established and well equipped laboratories. The Department has experienced faculty engaged in teaching, research, capacity building activities and industry extension services. Faculty members represent several policy making and professional bodies. The Department has liaison with reputed industries and R&D organizations.
