What we do
During our Maltese lessons will cover all four main skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Grammar will be embedded throughout, and each session will emphasise one of the skills, while still touching on the others. Lessons will remain topic-based, in line with modern pedagogy.
Year 2
Listening & Speaking: Vocabulary development, pronunciation, short stories, and forming simple sentences.
Reading: Beginning with Maltese phonics → blending words → simple → more complex sentences.
Writing: From short words to full sentences.
Year 3–4
Listening & Speaking: Short stories, new vocabulary, structured and later impromptu conversations.
Reading: Vocabulary words, short texts, and comprehension questions.
Writing: Simple sentences focusing on grammar (articles, verb conjugation, gender), moving on to short paragraphs using prepositions, partiċelli, conjunctions, etc.
Year 4: Progressing towards paragraphs and other tasks aligned with the National Curriculum.
Year 5–11
Structure: Each session focuses on one skill, with exam-relevant themes from the curriculum.
Grammar: Integrated into most lessons to ensure correct sentence formation.
Literature: Included once a month (Years 7–10), with more frequent focus for Year 11.
Each year group follows the National Curriculum. If you feel your child would benefit from joining a different group, please let me know.
Group sizes:
Primary: maximum 5 students
Secondary: maximum 6 students
This allows us to give individual attention — supporting and challenging students when necessary.
Our teachers are experienced educators from state, church, independent schools, and our own academy. We always have our students’ best interests at heart, ensuring they feel comfortable and providing the right environment to thrive.
Please note: A group requires a minimum of two students to run. I will inform you if the group you select cannot open.
Every month, parents receive an email with the content that would be taught that month.
Twice a year, parents will get feedback from their teacher on how their child is doing in Maltese.
Each weekly session (Maltese or Core) lasts 1.5 hours.
Cost: €15 per session.
Payment: Monthly in advance.
Absences: If a student cannot attend due to illness or a planned event, please let us know in advance so we can fit them into another group.
