I am an organic chemist with expertise spanning synthetic organic chemistry, glycochemistry, biocatalysis, nanotechnology, and chemical biology. My research focuses on designing and synthesizing functional molecules and catalytic systems that address challenges at the interface of chemistry and biology.
I earned my Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi under the supervision of Prof. Ravi P. Singh. My doctoral research centered on the synthesis of heterocycles and oligosaccharides, providing a strong foundation in synthetic methodology, molecular design, reaction mechanisms, and advanced structural characterization using modern analytical techniques.
Following my doctoral studies, I joined Iowa State University as a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the laboratory of Prof. Yan Zhao. There, I expanded my research into glycosynthase engineering and glycoacylation, developing libraries of biocatalyst–nanoparticle conjugates and demonstrating their catalytic applications. This interdisciplinary work combined organic synthesis, enzymology, and nanotechnology to create innovative catalytic platforms.
I further broadened my expertise in chemical biology during my postdoctoral research in the laboratory of Prof. Köhn at the University of Bonn, where I explored the application of chemical tools to understand and manipulate biological processes.
My research interests encompass synthetic organic chemistry, glycochemistry, chemical biology, biocatalysis, and nanomaterials. I am passionate about developing innovative molecular systems that bridge fundamental chemistry with real-world applications in catalysis, biotechnology, and medicine.
