Dear Parents,

We have received amended information regarding students who have recovered from COVID-19, please see below.

As per the medical certificates, people who have recovered from COVID-19 have immunity for 9 months. MOPH certificates must be submitted to the school for students to be exempt from weekly Rapid Antigen tests.

Therefore, if your child has recovered from COVID-19 in the past 9 months, you may submit the MOPH certificate to your child's teacher/tutor. Your child will then not require the weekly RAT.

IGCSE and AS Level Registration

Dear Y11 & Y12 students and Parents,

Please be informed that IGCSE & AS Registrations resume after the half-term break on Sunday, 13 February 2022.

We request that the process of registration should be done by the students themselves, not by the parents or their representatives for the following reasons:

1. MOE Directive : parents & representatives are not allowed inside school premises

2. Each Y11 and Y12 student sitting the final exams should be seen and interviewed in person by the Exams Officer for identification purposes.

3. Parents/representatives can pay for the fees, but signing and submission of registration forms should be done by students.

يُرجى العلم بأن التسجيل لاختبارات مرحلتي ال IGCSE و AS مستمر بعد إجازة منتصف الفصل الدراسي الثاني يوم الأحد الموافق 13 فبراير 2022 .

Leave Of Absence UPDATE

Attending school and remaining in lessons is important for your child's education. If any students need to leave during the school day, prior parental permission is required with a signed note. If leave is required due to a medical appointment, an official medical appointment form is required. If a signed parent/ guardian note or medical appointment is not received, students will need to remain in class.

Return To School - Sunday 30th January

Dear Parents,

Please be informed that the MOEHE has announced that all students will return to school at 100% capacity from Sunday, 30^th January 2022; with full commitment and compliance to applying all precautionary and preventive measures. This is in consultation with the Ministry of Public Health and in the interests of students and their studies.

All students will need to do a weekly rapid antigen test at home to allow them to enter the school building. The test should be done every Friday or Saturday. The students will need to submit an acknowledgement form, signed by the Parent / Guardian that the home examination was carried out over the weekend and that they tested negative. Students will not be allowed to enter the school without this form. This will also be checked at the school gates on entry every Sunday.

The Ministry of Public Health will conduct random checks in schools to ensure that the education of students proceeds in a safe and healthy school environment, stressing emphasis on applying precautionary measures for students and staff in accordance with safety protocols. Especially the correct wearing of masks, social distancing and good ventilation.

1. Students will not go outside during Break Time. They will need to have their food with them and eat in the class. (MEHE will make random checke and re-evaluate the situation)

2. Availability to do Single sports activities (no teams to play together).Taking into consideration one bubble each time.

3. Continuation of the Online lessons for those in quarantine with certification from the MOPHA.

Please see the “Home Examination Acknowledgement Form” attached. These need to be submitted at the school gate prior to students’ entry into the school. The MOPH will check these when they visit the school.

نحيطكم علماً بأن وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي قد أقرَت عودة جميع الطلاب إلى المدرسة بنسبة 100% بدءً من يوم الأحد 30 يناير 2022 مع الالتزام التام بتطبيق جميع الإجراءات الاحترازية والوقائية. حيث كان هذا القرار بالتنسيق مع وزارة الصحة العامة لمصلحة الطلاب ودراستهم.

على جميع الطلاب إجراء الفحص المستضد السريع أسبوعيا في المنزل وذلك للسماح لهم بالدخول إلى مبنى المدرسة ، ويجب إجراء الفحص كل يوم جمعة أو سبت .

يجب على الطالب تقديم نموذج إقرار موقع من ولي الأمر يُقر بإجراء الفحص المنزلي خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع وأن نتيجة الاختبار سلبية ، حيث لن يُسمح للطلاب بدخول المدرسة دون تقديم هذا النموذج. سوف يتم التأكد من النماذج عند بوابات المدرسة قبل دخول الطلاب كل يوم أحد.

سوف تقوم وزارة الصحة العامة بإجراء فحوصات عشوائية في جميع المدارس للتأكد من أن التعليم يسير في بيئة مدرسية آمنة وصحية مع التأكيد على تطبيق الإجراءات الاحترازية للطلاب والموظفين وفقاً لبروتوكولات السلامة وتحديداً الالتزام بارتداء الكمامة بالشكل الصحيح ، التباعد الإجتماعي والتهوية الجيدة.

1. لن يُسمح بخروج الطلاب إلى الباحة خلال وقت الإستراحة ، حيث يجب عليهم إحضار الطعام معهم وتناوله داخل الحصة الصفيَة ( سوف تقوم وزارة الصحة العامة بإجراء جولات تفقدية عشوائية ).

2. إمكانية القيام بالأنشطة الرياضية الفردية (دون وجود فرق للعب معاً) مع مراعاة تطبيق نظام الفقاعة الواحدة في كل مرة.

3. الإستمرار في تقديم التعليم عن بعد للطلاب المتواجدين في الحجر الصحي بشهادة من وزارة الصحة العامة تثبت الإصابة بالفيروس.

يُرجى الإطلاع على " نموذج الإقرار بالاختبار المنزلي " المرفق ، والذي يجب تقديمه عند بوابة المدرسة قبل دخول الطلاب . حيث سوف تقوم وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي بتفقد النماذج عند زيارتهم للمدرسة.

Year 11 Students Return to School

Dear Year 11 Parents,

Due to Covid we realise that some students would prefer to attend lessons online whilst they are still doing their exams. As a result we have moved to a hybrid model of learning until the 27th January. This means that students can attend lessons either online or in school. Please log into your Google classroom to find the link to your live lessons.

Attendance is not optional. You must attend either online or in school when you do not have an exam.

We will get back to you after the 27th January following the MOE’s directive regarding online learning.

Year 12 Students Return to School

Dear 12 Parents,

Year 12 exams will finish on Thursday 20th January 2022. This means that all students will need to attend lessons from Sunday 23rd January 2022. Dear Parents,

We have noted that some students in Years 11 and 12 have missed some of their Mock exams for a variety of reasons. These students must make contact with Mr Ahmed (Deputy Head of Secondary - Academics) immediately to rearrange their mock exam schedule. All students will need to sit an exam in order to get a grade for any missed subject exams. Retake exams will be scheduled during the current mock exam schedule when students do not have scheduled exams, after school or on weekends.

Failure to attend mock exams will result in a U grade being given.

For all future exams during this mock examination period you must produce a screenshot of your red/yellow Etheraz as evidence to prove your illness. If you have another illness please provide a medical note.

لقد لُوحظ أن عدد من طلبة الصف الحادي عشر والثاني عشر لم يتمكنوا من إجراء الاختبارات التجريبية لعدد من الأسباب. على جميع هؤلاء الطلبة التواصل مع السيد/أحمد (النائب الأكاديمي) على الفور وذلك لإعادة جدولة اختباراتهم.

يجب التأكيد على جميع الطلاب أن إجراء جميع الاختبارات التجريبية إلزامي وذلك لضمان حصولهم على درجة في المواد المختارة.

سوف يتم جدولة الاختبارات الفائتة خلال الوقت الذي تُعقد فيه الاختبارات التجريبية الحالية عندما لا يكون لدى الطالب أي اختبار مجدول مسبقاً . وسوف يُعقد الاختبار أما بعد الدوام المدرسي أو خلال عطلة نهاية الأسبوع.

من المهم الإشارة إلى أننا نسعى بكل جهدنا لمواصلة التعليم لطلاب الصف الحادي عشر والثاني عشر قبل بضعة أشهر من عقد الاختبارات الدولية . لذلك فإننا سوف نستأنف إعطاء الدروس داخل المدرسة لطلاب الصف الحادي عشر والثاني عشر بدءً من يوم الأحد 16 يناير 2022 .

We are delighted to offer Master Classes to all Years 11 and 12 students to help them prepare for their Mock exams. These will begin on Wednesday 12th January 2022. This is in conjunction with the MOE’s approval concerning Years 11 and 12 students returning to school. Master classes are designed to equip students with effective exam techniques and provide them with rapid revision strategies.

These sessions will run after the 2nd set of exams each day starting at 1:00 pm Please see the schedule attached.

يسعدنا أن نقوم بتقديم الحصص الأساسية لطلاب الصف الحادي عشر والثاني عشر في المدرسة، وذلك لمساعدتهم في الاختبارات التجريبية.

Year 11 and 12 Mock Exams

Thursday 6th January

Dear Parents,

Further to the announcement made by the MOE that online learning will continue until the 27th January, this is a reminder that Year 11 & 12 January Mock exams will be conducted in school from Sunday 9th January 2022.

All exams will be in the Sports Hall. Students should wait outside the Sports Hall until they are invited in for their exams. They will not be allowed to enter the main school building. Students should only come to school when they have an exam.

Students must adhere to the following:

● complete an Antigen Test which must be negative before reporting to school.

● remain at home until after 10 days if they tested positive for COVD-19 recently and also provide a new and negative Lateral flow / Antigen Test result before they return to school.

● stay home if they are displaying symptoms of COVID-19

● provide proof of a positive test result should they miss an exam due to illness

● wear a mask at all times whilst onsite

● remain 2 meters apart whilst onsite

● arrive at school 30 minutes before the exam

● show their EHTERAZ at the gates

● make sure they are wearing the correct uniform and have the correct equipment for their exams.

● leave school immediately after each exam. They should email any questions or requests to their teachers/tutors/Head of Year as they will not be allowed to enter the main school building

وفقاً لتعميم وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي ، فقد تم تمديد فترة التعليم عن بعد حتى تاريخ 27 يناير 2022 . كما نوَد تذكيركم بأن الاختبارات التجريبية للصف الحادي عشر والثاني عشر سوف تُعقد داخل المدرسة بتاريخ 9 يناير 2022 .

جميع الاختبارات ستكون في القاعة الرياضية . يجب على جميع الطلاب الانتظار خارج القاعة الرياضية لحين السماح لهم بالدخول إلى القاعة ، ولن يُسمح للطلاب بدخول مبنى المدرسة، كما يجب على الطالب الذي لديه اختبار فقط الحضور للمدرسة.

يجب على جميع الطلاب الالتزام بما يلي:

· إجراء الفحص السريع (Antigen Test) والذي يجب أن يكون سلبي قبل الحضور إلى المدرسة.

· البقاء في المنزل لمدة 10 أيام إذا ثبتت إصابة الطالب بفيروس COVID-19 مؤخراً ، وتقديم نتيجة اختبار جديدة وسلبية قبل عودتهم إلى المدرسة.

· يجب على الطالب البقاء بالمنزل إذا ظهرت عليه أي أعراض للمرض.

· تقديم نتيجة الفحص الإيجابية إذا فات الطالب أي اختبار بسبب المرض.

· ارتداء الكمامة في جميع الأوقات أثناء الاختبار.

· إبقاء مسافة مترين بين الطلاب .

· الوصول قبل 30 دقيقة من بدء الاختبار.

· إظهار برنامج "احتراز" عند البوابة.

· التأكد من ارتداء الزي المدرسي الصحيح وإحضار الأدوات اللازمة للاختبار.

· مغادرة مبنى المدرسة مباشرة بعد الانتهاء من الاختبار . وفي حال كان لدى الطلاب أي استفسار يجب عليه إرسال بريد إلكتروني للمعلم أو لمسؤولي الصفوف والأقسام حيث لن يُسمح للطلاب بالدخول إلى مبنى المدرسة الرئيسي.

Dear Parents,

I hope that your child enjoyed the break and that you are all looking forward to the start of term 3. Following the MOE’s directive we are looking forward to welcoming all students (Year 7-12) to their online lessons starting from Sunday 2nd January 2022.

Below is the lesson timings of the day which will run until further notice whilst students are online.

Timings of the Day

Attendance

All lessons will be live. A register will be taken during registration and all lessons, therefore your child is expected to attend all sessions on their timetable. If your child is absent, this will be considered as truanting and this will affect their final attendance.

All students are expected to also join in online assemblies and registration periods as important information will be given by Heads of Years and tutors during these times. Assemblies are delivered during tutor time. If your child is unwell please contact the school so we are aware.

Completing Work - Google Classroom

Teachers will upload work on a daily basis on Google Classroom. Your child is also expected to complete work each day and upload these for their teachers to mark. Work will be marked online and feedback will also be given online.

All online lessons will be streamed mainly via Google.meet and some lessons via Zoom in Years 11 and 12. Your child should use the same google codes they were given to access google classrooms and live lessons in term 1. A reminder of these codes is below and will be shared with all students.

Timetables

Timetables have not changed. Your child is expected to follow the lessons on their current timetable using the timings above. All tasks in all lessons must be completed.

Learning Expectations

Please share the online learning expectations below with your child.

Students will need to embrace the potential of this virtual learning environment. The following guidelines will support their development:

1. Remember you are on camera and live. The advantage of live lessons is that you can take advantage of facial expressions, inflection, and tone of voice. Remember to think before you respond to make your thoughts and ideas clear and coherent to your peers.

2. Display the same standards of behaviour during the live lesson video that you would follow in the classroom.

3. Be mindful of all other students. Allow your peers time and opportunities to contribute to the discussion and share their ideas with the group.

4. Be mindful of your tone and expressions during the live lesson. This is not an anonymous session. Your voice and video are viewed by all who are participating in the chat session, and others in the room who may not be visible on the screen.

5. Be prepared to share your ideas and listen to those of others.

6. Respect the context of the live lesson. Stay on task.

7. Be forgiving of mistakes during the live lesson, both in terms of technology and other participants.

8. Set up a learning space in the house from which you will communicate with your teacher.

9. School starts at 7:00am each day and follows the normal timetable. Start the day as though you were coming to school, dressed and fed.

10. Break times are as usual. Make sure that you stretch, eat and drink

11. Ensure that you have the right equipment at hand.

12. Get involved in the class by messaging with your peers and teacher.

13. Upload work as required by your teacher.

14. You will be given achievement points if you do well

15. You will be given negative behaviour points if you break the rules.

Mock Exams

Mock exams that were scheduled to start on Wednesday 5th January have been postponed until Sunday 9th January 2022. All Years 11 and 12 students are expected to join online lessons until exams begin.

الحضور

جميع الحصص ستكون مباشرة وسيتم أخذ الحضور والغياب للطلبة في حصة التسجيل الصباحي وفي كل حصة، لذلك يجب على الطلاب حضور جميع الحصص وفقاً للجدول الدراسي . وفي حال غياب الطالب عن إحدى دروسه فسيُحسب ذلك غياباً في سجله.

ومن الضروري جداً لجميع الطلاب حضور الحصص التي يتم خلالها تسجيل الحضور وحصص اجتماع الطلاب حيث سيتم خلالها إعطاء معلومات هامة من قبل المسؤولين والمعلمين. ستعقد حصص الإجتماع خلال الحصة الخاصة بمسؤول الصف.

إذا كان يعاني ابنك/ابنتك من أي مشكلة يُرجى التواصل مع المدرسة لنكون على علم بذلك.

أداء الواجبات - Google Classroom :

سيقوم جميع المدرسين بتحميل واجبات يومياً على Google Classroom , يتعيَن على ابنك/ابنتك إكمال الواجب بشكل يومي وإرساله للمعلم حتى يقوم بتصحيحه وإرسال النتيجة له عبر الإنترنت.

سيتم بث جميع الدروس عبر الإنترنت بشكل رئيسي عبر Google meet وبعض الدروس ستكون عبر ال Zoom لطلاب الصف الحادي عشر والثاني عشر، يجب على ابنك/ابنتك استخدام ال Google codes التي تم إعطائها له مسبقاً في الفصل الدراسي الأول، كما أنه سيتم إرسال هذه الرموز للطلاب للتذكير .

الجدول الدراسي:

لم يطرأ أي تغيير على الجدول الدراسي ، فمن المتوقع أن يتابع ابنك/ابنتك جدوله الدراسي الحالي تبعاً للأوقات المذكورة أعلاه، كما يجب إتمام جميع الواجبات لجميع الحصص الدراسية.

المتوقع من الطلاب:

يُرجى مشاركة ما هو متوقع من التعلم عن بعد مع ابنك/ ابنتك:

يجب على الطلاب الوثوق بإمكانات البيئة التعليمية الافتراضية.ستساعد المبادئ التالية في تحسين وتطوير أدائهم:

1- تذَكر أن حضورك مباشر وأمام الكاميرا . تساعدك الدروس المباشرة على التواصل مع مشاركة تعابير الوجه ونبرة الصوت. تذكر وفكر قبل أن تتكلم لجعل أفكارك واضحة ومتسلسلة للآخرين.

2- أظهر حسن السلوك خلال الحصص المباشرة كما لو كنت داخل الصف.

3- أظهر احترامك للطلاب الآخرين وأعطهم الوقت والفرصة للمساهمة في النقاش ومشاركة أفكارهم.

4- انتبه لصوتك وتعليقاتك في الحصص المباشرة ، حيث سيكون الفيديو مرئي لجميع الطلاب المشاركين في الحصة ولغيرهم ممن قد يكونوا غير مرئين لك.

5- كن مستعداً لمشاركة أفكارك والإستماع لأفكار الآخرين.

6- احترم سياق الدرس وابقى على إطلاع على المهمات الموكلة إليك.

7- أظهر التسامح لبعض الأخطاء التي قد تحدث أثناء الحصص المباشرة سواء من الطلاب الآخرين أو الأخطاء التقنية.

8- اختر مساحة هادئة في المنزل حيث يمكنك التواصل مع المعلم بهدوء.

9- يبدأ الدوام الدراسي يومياً من الساعة السابعة صباحاً. ابدأ يومك كما لو كنت تأتي إلى المدرسة بارتداء الملابس المناسبة وبنشاط.

10- أوقات الإستراحة كالمعتاد ، احرص على تناول الطعام والراحة خلال هذا الوقت.

11- تأكد من حصولك على الأدوات المناسبة للحصص.

12- شارك في الحصة مع معلمك وزملائك.

13- ارسل الواجبات المطلوبة منك من قبل المعلم.

14- سيتم اعطائك نقاط إيجابية إذا أحسنت التصرف.

15- سيتم اعطائك نقاط سلبية إذا أسأت التصرف.

الاختبارات التجريبية :

لقد تم تأجيل الاختبارات التجريبية التي كان من المقرر أن تبدأ يوم الأربعاء 5 يناير 2022 إلى يوم الأحد 9 يناير 2022 . يجب على جميع طلاب الصف الحادي عشر والثاني عشر حضور الحصص عبر الانترنت حتى بدء الاختبارات.

End of Term Reports

Wednesday 15th December

Dear Parents,

End of term reports will be distributed via the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Most of you already have access to the VLE from last school year. I have attached a video reminder about how to access the VLE.

For those of you who do not already have access, you will need to download the app (My Learning Fusion) and register using the school ID; 4051. You will also need your email address that we have on the school system for you. This will be your username.

Two videos are below to help you with the registration process.

All reports in English will be available to view and print from the end of day on Thursday 16th December 2021. Arabic, Islamic Studies and Qatar History reports in Arabic will be emailed.

Please contact your child’s form tutor or Head of Year if you need more information.

نظراً للظروف الراهنة بسبب جائحة كورونا , فأنه سوف يتم تحميل تقارير نهاية الفصل الدراسي الأول على منصة التعليم الافتراضي (VLE)

معظم أولياء الأمور لديهم إمكانية الوصول إلى منصة التعليم الإفتراضي (VLE) منذ العام الماضي.

Parents Teachers Meetings : Years 7-10

Wednesday 15th December

Dear Parents,

The next Parents Teachers Meeting will be on the 10th January from 3:00 - 5:00pm for all students in Years 7 and 8 and on the 17th January for students in Years 9 and 10.

Parents and teachers meetings are very crucial events in the school’s calendar. During these meetings we will discuss your child’s performance during the end of term exams and talk through the next steps to ensure he/she remains on target or how to improve his/her academic performance.

These meetings will be at school and will be conducted on a first come first served basis. Please make sure you are on time. Please ensure that your child is in attendance with you at the meetings.

Years 11 and 12 School Photographs

Tuesday 23rd November

Dear Parents,

This is a reminder that Years 11 and 12 students will be taking their school photographs on Wednesday 24th November. Please ensure they are in full uniform.

Timings of the Day

Dear Parents,

At the start of the school year we introduced an additional registration period from 1:30 - 1:40pm, this was linked with recording the attendance of our online learning experience. Now that we have returned to 100% of students attending lessons physically in school, the end of the day registration is no longer a necessity and we are going to return to finishing at 1:30pm. Secondary will finish school in line with the Primary section of the school.

The updated time supports our academic ECAs. To boost academic performance we will use the additional time for ECAs. It is very crucial that your child attends ECAs that are on offer. Some of which will be mandatory for a number of students.

Please arrange for your child to be picked up from school at 1:30PM from Sunday 21st November 2021 and at 2:30 PM on the days when they attend an ECA.

أولياء الأمور الكرام،

منذ بداية العام الدراسي كان تسجيل حضور الطلاب يتم من الساعة 1:30 إلى الساعة 1:40 ظهراً وذلك تماشياً مع نظام التعليم عن بعد في ذلك الوقت.

أما في الوقت الحالي ومع عودة الطلاب إلى الحضور في المدارس بنسبة 100% لم يعد التسجيل في نهاية اليوم ضروري ، لذلك سوف ينتهي الدوام المدرسي للقسم الإعدادي والثانوي يومياً في تمام الساعة 1:30 ظهراً بما يتماشى مع قسم الإبتدائي في المدرسة.

سوف نقوم باستغلال الوقت الإضافي في حصص التقوية والتي تُعقد في نهاية اليوم بهدف رفع المستوى الأكاديمي .

من الضروري أن يحضر الطالب حصص التقوية التي توفرها المدرسة ، كما إن الحضور لحصص التقوية إلزامياً لعدد من الطلاب.

يُرجى اصطحاب ابنك/ابنتك من المدرسة يومياً في تمام الساعة 1:30 ظهراً وذلك بدءً من يوم الأحد 21 نوفمبر 2021 وفي تمام الساعة 2:30 مساءً في الأيام التي تُعقد فيها حصص التقوية.

Assessment Timings

14th November

Dear Parents,

Due to the Arab Cup and some road closures, it has been decided to hold the end of term assessments later in the school day. Students are still expected to arrive at 7:00am. However, the Primary exams will now start at 9:00am and Secondary exams at 12:00pm. All students must attend school from 7:00am to 1:30pm (Primary),1:40pm (Secondary).

COVID TESTS for all students

Unvaccinated Students - 12 Years and Older

4th November 2021,

Dear Parents,

Please be reminded that students who are 12 years and above and who aren't vaccinated they must have either a weekly PCR or rapid-antigen test. There is a medical team at school today between 1:45pm and 3:45pm who can do the rapid-antigen test for the your child/children.

British Schools Overseas Accreditation

Thursday 28th October 2021

Dear Parents,

The school will be visited by a team of inspectors from BSO (British Schools Overseas) on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday next week. The achievement of this accreditation will continue to celebrate the continued success of the school and for your children's learning.

The inspectors will focus on the teaching and learning in the school, as well as the welfare, health and safety of all students. They will observe lessons and meet with students, staff and parents.

Your support, as always, is appreciated.

COVID Vaccination

Monday 25th October 2021

Dear parents,

Any student who is 12 years old and above and hasn't been vaccinated, hasn't had a PCR test (weekly), hasn't had a rapid antigen test (weekly) or hasn't had Covid-19 in the past 6 months will not be allowed in school from Tuesday 26th October 2021.

Our records show that your child falls within this group and as a result will not be allowed in school. If this is not the case please provide proof of this by tomorrow; Tuesday 26th October 2021.

Your child will need to complete the weekly test and return this to the school nurse each week or receive the vaccination. This is a directive from the Ministry of Education.

نوَد إعلامكم بأنه بدءً من يوم الثلاثاء 26 أكتوبر 2021 لن تسمح المدرسة بدخول أي طالب (12 عاماً فما فوق) لم يأخذ اللقاح أو لم يقوم بإجراء فحص كورونا PCR أو الفحص السريع (أسبوعياً) ، أو لم يحضر شهادة إصابة بالمرض خلال الستة أشهر الماضية .

تُظهر سجلاتنا أن ابنك/ابنتك لم يقوم بستليم أي إثبات لما سبق ونتيجة لذلك لن يُسمح له بدخول المدرسة ، إذا كان لديه إثبات ، يُرجى تزويدنا به غداً يوم الثلاثاء 26 أكتوبر 2021 .

يجب على طفلك/ طفلتك إجراء فحص اسبوعي وتسليم النتيجة لممرضة المدرسة ، أو أن يقوم بأخذ اللقاح . وذلك بتوجيه من وزارة التعليم والتعليم العالي.

Ref: Vaccinations or PCR/ Rapid Antigen Tests for 12 years old and above

Dear Parents of Secondary Children,

Further to all students returning to school with 100% attendance, the following information refers to students who are 12 years old and older.

The directive from The Private Affairs Sector at the MoEHE requires all students 12 years of age and above who have not received or completed doses of the “Covid-19” vaccine to take a weekly rapid test for the Corona virus (Rapid Antigen) or a PCR examination approved by the Ministry of Public Health at one of the private centres in the country. There is also an exception for those who have recovered from the disease.

We therefore require all students 12 years and older, who are vaccinated, to bring proof that they have completed two doses of Covid-19 vaccine, or their immunity certificate issued by the PHCC, on Sunday 3/10/2021, and give it to their class tutor teacher.

Students who are not vaccinated must present their weekly negative PCR/ Rapid Antigen test results to their class tutor teacher, preferably on Sunday, but no later than Tuesday of each week.

We look forward to welcoming all students physically back to school.

Please ensure that children are in the correct uniform and arrive at school at 6:50am. All mobile phones will be collected at the start of the school day and returned after lesson 7.

Attendance and Punctuality

Dear Parents,

Please be reminded that attendance is compulsory for all students in Years 11 and 12. School starts at 7:00am, all students must be in school before this time, in order not to miss out on their lessons. Hybrid attendance for students in Years 7-10. When not in school, students are expected to access lessons through Google Classroom.

Please Return Library Books

Dear Parents,

It is important that all library books are returned to the school library between the 10th - 20th June 2021. A letter will be given to your child which outlines the books that should be returned. Missing books will need to be replaced. End of year reports will only be issued to pupils who have returned all books or have paid for those missing.

Changes to the Year 10 Exam Schedule

Dear Y10 parents,

Please be informed that we have changed Year 10 ICT and French exam dates :

· The Year 10 ICT examination will move from the 9th June to the 7th June.

· The Year 10 French examination will move from 7th June to the 9th June.

Exams Sanctions

Late:

Student must report to Reception to be marked

If a student is late a phone call will be made home to inform parents

If a student has 2 consecutive late, they will not be allowed to sit the 3^rd exam

If a student disrupts the exam:

1^st offence: a verbal warning will be given

2^nd offence: removed to behavior room and a phone call is made home immediately (Student will meet Mr. Maurice (Deputy Head of Pastoral) and the HOY at the end of the exam)

3^rd If the poor behavior persists a meeting will be held with parents that same day.

Dear Parents,

A massive thank you for your support so far this school year. It has been a year that we have not seen before. It has presented us with many challenges and we have had to respond to them. Thank you for being supportive and understanding.

Beginning in Term 3, we will introduce a registration period at the end of the day. This means school will now finish at 13:10pm for secondary students. This time will be used to catch-up on activities throughout the day and register students.

Kindly make arrangements to pick up your child at 13:10pm. Ramadan timings will be sent out as soon as these have been confirmed.

Please enjoy the break. We look forward to welcoming students back to school at 7am on Sunday 11th April 2021.

بدءاً من الفصل الدراسي القادم سوف يتم تسجيل الحضور والغياب للطلاب في نهاية الدوام المدرسي وعليه سوق ينتهي وقت الدوام في تمام الساعة ظهراً 1:10 لطلاب القسم الإعدادي والثانوي. كما سيتم خلال هذا الوقت متابعة نشاط الطلاب.

يرجى اجراء الترتيبات اللازمة لاصطحاب ابنك/ابنتك من المدرسة في تمام الساعة 1:10 .سيتم إرسال أوقات الدوام خلال شهر رمضان المبارك لاحقاً بمجرد الموافقة عليها.

Covid-19

Dear Parents,

I hope that you are safe and well.

Regarding any concerns with regards to the current Covid-19 pandemic, please be assured that NIS, Lagoon and all Newton schools are following the necessary safety procedures. Students and staff who have potentially been in close contact with a positive case are put into isolation, self-quarantine until tested and results have been received. All rooms are sanitised, the MOPH are informed, social distancing is enforced and the wearing of face masks is mandatory at all times.

You will be notified if there is any issue affecting your child.

The school has also recently been advised by the Ministry of Education and Higher Education of the following:

Regarding the quarantine leave for travelers, and those returning from outside the State of Qatar, after the end of the spring vacation it was decided that: for students, to calculate the mandatory quarantine period as unauthorized absence and the school must implement the attendance and absence policy.

Absences due to parent concerns about COVID 17.2.21

We understand that during the current rise in COVID19 cases in Qatar, you may wish your child to return to online learning only five days a week.

However, due to MOEHE instructions all students must attend school on a rotational basis unless the students have a medical exemption certificate from Hamad Hospital.

Students that do not attend school on their timetabled day of ‘in school’ learning will be marked as absent unless medical documentation or notification of the need for self-isolation or quarantine is provided.

Tuesday 19th January 2021

Dear Parents,

The next parents teachers meetings for Years 11 and 12 students will be on Tuesday 26th January 2021 between 2:30 and 5:00pm. Due to Covid-19 these sessions will be online with individual teachers for each subject.

We will share with you at the end of the week the Zoom links or Google codes for each teacher. These sessions will be done on a first come first served basis. However, If you need to see a specific teacher at a specific time please arrange this with them during the time frame. If you choose the first come first served option, you’ll be able to join each teacher for a meeting through the Zoom or Google link.

إلى أولياء الأمور الكرام ،

يسعدنا أن نعلمكم بأن اجتماعات أولياء الأمور القادمة للصفوف الحادي عشر والثاني عشر ستعقد يوم الثلاثاء القادم 26 يناير 2021 ما بين الساعة الثانية والنصف حتى الخامسة مساءً . ونظراً للظروف الراهنة بسبب جائحة كورونا فستعقد هذه الاجتماعات عن بعد عبر الإنترنت وبشكل شخصي مع كل مدرس لكل مادة.

سيتم ارسال ال Zoom Links و Google Codes لكل مدرس نهاية الأسبوع الحالي , وستتم هذه الاجتماعات على أساس الأولوية لمن يتواصل أولاً.

وإذا أردت رؤية استاذ معين في وقت محدد فيمكنك الترتيب مع المدرس مسبقاً لمقابلته خلال الوقت الزمني المحدد أعلاه للاجتماع . إذا اخترت خيار من يأتي أولاً يقابل أولاً ستكون قادراً على مقابلة جميع المدرسين من خلال ال Zoom أو Google Links .
