Below are some of the technology tools that I've used regularly in my remote and in-person classrooms.
Miscellaneous
Google Classroom
This is a free web-based platform that integrates G Suite services, including Google Docs, Gmail, and Google Calendar. Classroom saves time and paper, and makes it easy to create classes, distribute assignments, communicate, and stay organized.
Flipgrid
A website that allows teachers to create "grids" to facilitate video discussions. Each grid is like a message board where teachers can pose questions, called "topics," and their students can post video responses that appear in a tiled grid display.
Screencastify
Students can use Screencastify to explain what they know in their own words. They may record themselves working through a problem, summarizing a concept, or explaining the main points of a story. Teachers use it for recording lessons or modeling tasks.
This tool allows the teacher to write over a PowerPoint or other website via an iPad.
YouTube
I create YouTube videos (using Doceri) for many of topics I am covering in class.
Seesaw
This is a platform for student engagement. Teachers can empower students to create, reflect, share, and collaborate. Seesaw is a great, user-friendly platform for remote learning.
Epic
The leading digital reading platform—built on a collection of 40,000+ popular, high-quality books from 250+ of the world's best publishers—that safely fuels curiosity and reading confidence for kids 12 and under
Presentation Tools
A presentation tool that makes interactive slideshows. Have students draw, share, and respond. In mathematics, the post powerful application is allowing students to use the draw feature to graph functions and transformations.
Also similar to Nearpod, but integrated with Google Slides.
Formative Assessment Tools
Jamboard
Students can quickly pull in images from a Google search, save work to the cloud automatically, use the easy-to-read handwriting and shape recognition tool, and draw with a stylus but erase with your finger – just like a whiteboard.
An amazing formative assessment tool that allows you to embed questions into YouTube videos. Varied data outputs allows you to track student progress within a video.
This tool allows you to conduct student-paced formative assessments in a fun and engaging way for students of all ages .
