The Wellness Ambassador Summit is a mandatory training for all students looking to join the Wellness Ambassador Program. Held on a Saturday in the Fall Semester, the Summit brings together Wellness Ambassadors from across the district to learn and lead together on issues such as a mental health, student wellness, and peer-to-peer prevention.
Encouragement campaigns come in various forms throughout the school year! In all of them, the mission remains the same: spreading encouragement and positivity across the campus. Of the course of last year, Eaton High and Byron High students decked the halls by holding a peppermint give-a-way at the doors of Eaton, while Northwest High students got to quacking with a rubber duck hand out!
In the Fall of 2024 the district Wellness Ambassador team held two days of substance use education campaigns to discourage substance use and encourage positive coping skills with our district's middle schoolers. Together the full team of Wellness Ambassadors addressed all seven NISD middle school campuses.
In the Spring of 2024 the Wellness Ambassador Team at Eaton High School held Kindness Week: a week devoted to spreading kindness across the school by encouraging intentional acts. Activities for the week included: daily announcements, a kindness tree in the student union, a morning greeting/encouragement campaign, a compliment box for students to contribute to and more! Kindness Week will return in 24-25!
Over the summer a cross district team of Wellness Ambassadors traveled to Austin, TX to attend Say What's annual Tabacco Free Conference which arms participants with knowledge to advocate against tabacco use in their communitites. Over the course of the three day conference our ambassadors learned a great deal about the harmful effects of Tabacco consumption and are eager to raise awareness!
