Frequently Asked Questions

How many dancers do you take?

If a dancer scores at least 65 points out of a possible 100, they make the team! Tryouts are judged by a panel of three judges and averaged together. We have taken anywhere from 20 to over 60 dancers!

Do I have to have my splits to make the team?

No! Splits are a very small percentage of the tryout rubric. We have dancers on the current team and on teams in the past that were still working on getting their splits.

How much does being on the team cost?

On average our team gear costs between $300 and $400, but we split this cost up into multiple payments throughout April, May, and June.

How often do Texanettes practice? Can I be in another organization/sport?

During the summer Texanettes typically practice on Mondays and Wednesdays in the afternoon. During the school year we practice on Mondays and Tuesdays. We perform at football games and parades in the fall, our NISD district dance showcase, and even compete!

We release our entire year calendar during the summer to make planning and juggling other sports/teams easier for families. Remember that communication with your coach(es) is key!
