Cathryn G. Pravoslavnov is a passionate teacher, insightful leader, and experienced practitioner.
Ms. Prav has been an educator for more than 25 years, and has been teaching English at Byron Nelson High School since 2019. Prior to coming to Texas to be closer to family, Cathryn taught college English for 19 years in Denver. In addition to teaching post-secondary, Cathryn has taught Preschool, Kindergarten, and Middle School.
She has a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in ESL from the University of Colorado in Denver. She has a Bachelors in Linguistics with Russian and German minors from the University of Texas in El Paso. She also attended the University of Hildesheim, Germany and the University of Moscow, Russia. She believes that it is important to "never stop learning because life never stops teaching."
She holds certifications in Texas for EC-6 CORE, 7-12 ELAR, EC-12 ESL, and GT.
She is a single mom of Anton and his hairy brother, Heinrich. She loves spending time with her boys doing anything natural, cultural, historical, and musical. Hoping to visit every continent, she has been to at least 30 States and 15 countries so far.
"Cathryn is patient and poised, and her lessons are practical and polished." According to Cathryn, "it’s important to plan, but be flexible; stay positive, but be realistic; give praise, but be constructive."
