Canvas Parent Observer Access is available for parents and guardians of students in Northwest ISD middle and high schools.
With this new feature enabled, parents and guardians now have the ability to monitor and support their student's assignments & progress, upcoming Summatives, and know the teacher's dedicated tutorial times in Canvas, our digital learning environment for secondary schools.
Parents and guardians must create accounts using unique pairing codes for their students to use this feature. This pairing code ensures student records are kept confidential between the teacher, parent/guardian and student. Instructions for getting started are found at this link. In addition to the Canvas Parent Observer webpage, families can also download the Canvas Parent app on an iPhone or Android smartphone.
Please visit the Home Access Center (HAC) to view and monitor your child’s grades.
If you need login assistance, please contact Audra Lewis, the Adams Registrar at Audra.Lewis@nisdtx.org. Report cards and progress reports will be emailed to guardians using the district’s HAC. After logging into the HAC, click the My Alerts link. Place a checkmark next to the progress report and report card alerts options to receive these alerts. Setting up email alerts for monitoring your student’s grades in HAC is also suggested. Click on the Classes icon at the top of the page in HAC, then place a checkmark in the box next to Email - Alert me if my student receives an assignment average below 100% or above 0%. These parameters will allow you to see all of the grades that are entered for your student in each class. We encourage you to log into Home Access Center to view your student's official grades. While some grades are collected in Canvas, Home Access Center will show the overall course grade that includes all graded assignments (ex. Canvas materials, paper assignments, & Summative Assessments.)Being informed of your student's course grades (overall average, low grades, & missing assignments) provides direction and "look fors" when navigating courses and materials in Canvas. Free and Reduced - Price Meal Program
NISD offers a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program. For our new families, who think they may qualify for this program, we encourage you to complete the online application before school begins. Parents are responsible for all charges to a child’s meal account until their application is approved. A new application must be completed each year and in the first 30 days of the new school year or starting in a new school district. Please the NISD Food Services page for additional information on the Free and Reduced-Price Meal Program and the digital application.

With all NISD students in 6th through 12th grades having the opportunity to receive a district-issued device, an optional yearly maintenance plan is available for $25 and may be purchased each year. This plan must be purchased within 30 days of the first day of school. For students that enroll during the school year, the plan must be purchased within 30 days of the student's enrollment. The plan covers the device from the first day of the current school year until the first day of the next school year and starts immediately upon purchase. The optional yearly maintenance plan pays one-half the cost of a covered repair.
