We have begun one of our most loved units that collaborates with our 2nd grade science classes and music called the "Science of Sound." It culminates in a favorite Granger tradition - The Recycled Instrument Project! Each student will need to complete a recycled instrument and be prepared to make a presentation in music class the week of April 22-26th.
Davis/ Benoit (1/4th of class) Due Monday, April 22
Abbott/ Benoit Due Tuesday, April 23
Leak/ Benoit (1/4 of class) Due Wednesday, April 24
Hesters/ Benoit (1/4 of class) Due Thursday, April 25
If your child has Mrs. Benoit, just ask them which day of the week they go to music, more than likely they will know. But many families in past years have just made sure their project is prepared on the Monday of the due date week and students may store them on top of their lockers. Also, we kindly request to include your student's name and homeroom teacher on their project.
Feel free to email Mrs. Karina Server with any further questions after you have reviewed the linked documents below carefully.

Thanks so much and we are looking forward to another great year of presentations!
Kindly,
Mrs. Karina Server

Senate Bill 9 (SB 9) of the 87th Texas Legislative Session requires school districts to offer curriculum to students in the prevention of child abuse and family violence. With guidance from the School Health Advisory Council (SHAC), Northwest ISD approved the curriculum that will be used for the various grade levels. The curriculum, provided by and facilitated through a community partner, Alliance for Children: A Children’s Advocacy Center, may be previewed here: https://www.nisdtx.org/departments/student-services/counseling/senate-bill-9-sb-9 This is an opt-in lesson, and parents/guardians indicated participation at the beginning of the year during student registration. If it was left blank or marked "no", your child will not be part of the prevention lesson. Opt-in-only students will participate. The child abuse prevention program will be presented at Kay Granger Elementary on Monday, April 15th. If you have questions regarding the program or your child’s participation status, please contact your child’s school counselor, Christy Buce, at christina.buce@nisdtx.org or 817-698-1104. If you want to opt-in your student now, please email your child's teacher and Mrs. Buce. Thank you!
Students may enter the front of the building at 7:15am for breakfast and should arrive by at least 7:30am to have enough time to eat. Breakfast and lunch meals are no longer free to all students. For more information regarding price and how to put money on students' accounts please click here.
