Registered Nurse
Learning Center Simulation Associate for Texas Christian University
My name is Jennifer Edwards and I am a Registered Nurse and I work in the Health Professions Learning Center in the Harris College of Nursing at Texas Christian University! I have over 10 years experience in the hospital setting and I have loved being a part of healthcare education for the past 7 years! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to combine my love of nursing with my love of education.
I have 3 daughters and I have been married to my husband for 18 years. We live right outside of Fort Worth in Haslet, TX. My oldest, Brooke is in the process of pursing a career in nursing and hopes to work in Labor & Delivery. My middle daughter Paige has always longed to be a kindergarten teacher and loves children. To a beat of her own drum, my youngest daughter McKenzie dreams of being a pilot and is interested in the Air Force!
In my current role at TCU, I am a Learning Center Simulation Associate. I am responsible for supporting daily operations and all elements of learning experiences in the Health Professions Learning Center for the Harris College of Nursing at Texas Christian University. In addition, I evaluate student skill performance and student learning in accordance with current nursing practice and standards of care.
Prior to working at TCU, I taught in the Career & Technical Education Program in the Health Sciences Practicum. As the senior practicum instructor, I had the privilege to teach the most advanced health sciences students in the Certified Clinical Medical Assisting Practicum as well as the Certified EKG Technician Practicum. I have grew our program from 5 students to 56 students and I am proud to say that my student pass rate was 100% for both the Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Exam as well as the Certified EKG Technician Exam. My students worked to gain a competitive advantage as they pursued healthcare education to become registered nurses, medical doctors, surgeons and more.
My clinical experience includes the following areas: Labor & Delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care, OB Emergency Room, Operating Room, and Medical-Surgical Care. I also spent time in Nursing Education in the hospital setting rolling out initiatives including: Bedside Shift Report & Baby Friendly!
Working with future healthcare providers is my passion and calling, and I am thankful to have the opportunity to work at Texas Christian University to do just that!
