I am so very excited to be a part of Cox Elementary and Northwest ISD! This is my 12th year teaching art, and I'm looking forward to another amazing year.
I received my Bachelors of Fine Arts from the University of North Texas, focusing on Photography and Art History. I have also received my teaching certifications in all level Art, Early Childhood-6 Generalist, and English as a Second Language Supplemental. Last year I completed my Masters degree program and now hold a Masters of Art in Education.
I have a passion for teaching children art and strive to help them discover something they never knew they could do, which gives them the confidence and courage they need to be successful in all areas. I believe Art Education is a vital part of our school system. Too many students lack a way to express themselves in a nonviolent, appropriate manner. Art is a valuable tool for students to express themselves, giving them an emotional outlet and helping them develop into well-rounded students. I know that each child is as different as the crayons in a box, and in my classroom I strive to create a safe and engaging environment that sparks curiosity and excitement with each student.
I love art, I love teaching art, and am most happy to be a Cox Cougar!
