About The Big Event
What is The Big Event?
The Big Event started at Texas A&M University in 1982 and has grown now to many university and high school campuses across the country. It is a one day service event where students, staff, and members of the community go out into our community and complete service projects. These projects are anything from cutting down tree limbs, planting flowers, pulling weeds, and even walking dogs!
The goal of The Big Event is to make a positive impact and give back to the community that graciously supports all of the schools in Northwest ISD.
Northwest High School started the NISD Big Event tradition 10 years ago and it spread to Eaton several years later. This year, NISD students have big dreams. We are combining the efforts of all four of our campuses, Byron, Northwest, Eaton, and Steel into a single powerhouse team to cover all 255 square miles of Northwest ISD community. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to see first hand the importance of serving our community and getting involved in something bigger than themselves.
