Cultural Traditions Project:
We are learning about many different cultures and traditions around the world. Often, these traditions and customs center on various holidays and can include music, clothing, food and celebrations specific to one's culture. To better learn about each other and the world around us, each first-grade student will share a tradition/custom their family has. They are to complete the graphic organizer being sent home and return by Friday, December 5th. Students should also bring with them an artifact that represents their tradition/custom. Students will present in class Friday and then bring their artifact back home. This will count for 2 grades in the gradebook.
We will wrap up our learning of the character trait, responsibility.
We will continue earning about the sneaky-e rule in phonics focusing on soft c and soft g sounds.
We will be learning about family traditions.
We will begin our unit on nonfiction writing.
We will learn about comparing and ordering numbers as well as number patterns.
We will begin our unit on weather and seasons.
