If a student is unable to make this specific date and would like to still be considered for the percussion class, they must complete the "virtual fitting" video submission via the google classroom link below. **Virtual fitting videos will be due by April 22 at midnight
Due to popularity of the instrument, Alto Saxophone is a lottery system. Class size is limited to 10 due to space/ balanced instrumentation. Students who successfully test for sax will be entered into the lottery. Any other instrument that exceeds class space/ instrumentation needs will be treated as a lottery instrument, in which names will be drawn to fill the available spots in the class.
SECOND STEP:
After the fitting process is complete for all students, we will email you to let you know which instrument your student will be playing. We will also send additional information about how to rent/ purchase the instrument and needed supplies.
April 27 - Bells Music will be available at Adams from 5-7:30 pm to help you with instrument rentals.
Rental Instruments vs. School Owned Instruments
Some instruments the family provides for the students to play in band. Most families choose to rent the instrument and purchase supplies from a local music company. These instruments include flute, clarinet, alto sax, trumpet, trombone and percussion.
Some instruments are school owned instruments. This means the school provides the instrument for a $100 annual usage fee and families purchase the mouthpiece/reeds, cleaning supplies and book. These instruments include oboe, bassoon, French horn, euphonium and tuba.

What some of our students have to say about BAND!
We are students who are eager to do something we’ve never done before, to be appreciated for our hard work, to showcase our abilities, and to have TONS of FUN in the process!
We are starting on our paths to becoming doctors, lawyers, politicians, professional athletes, actors, architects, and anything else we want to be.
We are the largest group of friends you could ever have in middle school!
We are YOU!
Band is one of my favorite classes! At first I didn’t know if I would be good at playing an instrument, but once I started learning I had so much fun! It’s a blast! - 6th grade band student
See what football star, Jason Kelce, has to say about the value of learning an instrument and how that applies to sports, or anything else in life. Jason played in the band and jazz band all throughout high school in addition to football.
We are so excited to meet and welcome our newest Lion Band members! Below we will outline the process for joining band and how your instrument will be selected.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What if we can’t afford an instrument?
Contact us! There are some low-cost options available for getting an instrument. Don’t let this be a reason to keep you from joining the band program. We can help you.
Will band get in the way of making good grades?
No! While the amount of hard work with classes is determined by each individual, over the years we have found the majority of students in band actually do better in all their other classes. Band helps create habits of excellence that carry over to a multitude of other activities.
Does a student need to have prior band or other musical experience?
Absolutely not! While a background in piano or another instrument can be helpful to a student’s understanding of musical concepts, it is not necessary to have prior knowledge or training. Most of the students in the Adams Band had no music training outside regular 5th grade music classes.
Is it possible to be in Band and Pre AP or GT classes? What about band and sports?
Yes! In fact, the majority of our band students participate in higher level classes. And most of them participate in football, volleyball, basketball, etc. in addition to that!
Asthma? Braces? Is it possible?
Absolutely! There are accommodations available for practically every student interested in being part of the band. There are plenty of students in band who wear braces or have asthma. In fact, playing a wind instrument can be beneficial in the strengthening of the lungs!
