We know that by 4th grade, students have been in Elementary School for quite some time now and have grown accustomed to many different types of expectations. We at Daniel see our students as leaders and hold them to a high standard. We know they are amazing, and we want them to show it!
By this age, we have narrowed down the rules to ways students should behave. We have found that most all behaviors fall into 3 basic categories:
Be Safe
Be Respectful
Be Responsible
We encourage students to ask themselves if their actions meet the criteria for everything they do while on campus and off! As we are preparing these students for middle school next year, we are helping them become productive and responsible students and people!
If student behavior has become a classroom disruption, teachers will give each student a warning. After that, the student will be asked to complete a Think Sheet. The Think Sheet is a school-wide initiative to have students reflect on their behavior and hopefully promote change in the future. Once the student has completed the Think Sheet, they will have their teacher approve and sign it. The Think Sheet will be sent home for a parent signature and returned the next day.
