What is the 30 Clock Hours?

Prior to assignment in the program, teachers who provide instruction and services that are a part of the program for gifted students have a minimum of thirty (30) clock hours of staff development that includes nature and needs of gifted/talented students, assessing student needs, and curriculum and instruction for gifted students. (19 TAC 89.2(2))

The 30 Hours is composed of 5 strands, which are:

Are you a secondary teacher who has attended an APSI or NMSI in the last 4 years?  Good news!  Twelve hours can be applied to the 30 GT Hours. Upload your certificates to Edugence  for approval.  You will still need to take the following strands: Identification, Nature & Needs, and Depth & Complexity.

Can't make the NISD sessions?  You can also take the courses through Region 11 at no cost.  Submit your certificates to Edugence for approval.
