BACKGROUND

The National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), an autonomous organisation under the Union Ministry of Rural Development, is a premier national centre of excellence in rural development and Panchayati Raj.

The aim of the Mela is to showcase all rural technologies at one place which are developed by different organizations/individuals that are useful to the people at one place and create wide marketing connect/network to facilitate both consumers and the entrepreneurs/ innovators. During the previous years, hundreds of rural Innovators, artisans and Self Help Group members, Entrepreneurs from across the country participated by bringing in amazing array of products for displaying cum sale. The varieties of products include handicrafts, handlooms, ready made garments, khadi and village industries products, medicinal and aromatic products, leather goods, toys, decorative items, processed food items, coir products, silk, wood carvings, brassware, fashion and tribal Jewelry and Solar energy based applications / products etc.
