Standard Operating Procedure for Medical Student Volunteers in Research
The successful NHS Productives series are about ‘the how not the what’ and use a learning by doing approach which builds knowledge and skills to support frontline teams to make real and lasting improvements for themselves. This means less time on tasks that don’t add value, and more time with patients, as well as safer, better quality care and lower costs.
Finding a safe and effective vaccine against COVID-19 is a top priority for the UK and part of the global response to the coronavirus pandemic.
Several vaccines have been identified and are currently being safety-tested, but only large-scale trials can give researchers the information needed about how effective they are.
COVID-19 vaccine trials are already being delivered in the Wessex region, which covers Dorset, Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and south Wiltshire. More trials are planned for the autumn and winter 2020, and will last for 12 to 18 months.
Study Support Volunteers are needed to support the NIHR COVID-19 vaccine research response.
Depending on the requirements of the specific research study, volunteers may be needed to support study participants during a study visit and/or carry out various administrative duties (on or off site)
