Participants in Research Experience Survey (PRES)
Greater Manchester
What is the PRES?
Why do we offer the PRES?
The PRES provides health and social care research participants with the opportunity to tell us about their experience whilst on the study. It gives us an idea of how well prepared they were to take part, how supported they felt during their time and whether they would consider taking part in other studies in future. On top of this, the feedback they share about what made their experience enjoyable, or whether there were elements they didn't appreciate, can help us to continue enhancing the experience for future participants.
Who can complete the PRES?
We are able to offer PRES in different formats to children and young people, all the way through to adults taking part. We offer slight variations of the PRES according to the following groups:
0-6 Years (for parents/carers)
7-11 Years
12-15 Years
Adult
Are all NIHR Portfolio studies suitable for the PRES?
The vast majority of NIHR portfolio studies are able to include PRES, unless it has been agreed by the Chief Investigator and NIHR CRN Coordinating Centre that it may not be suitable.
You can view studies not eligible for PRES here.
How are participants offered the opportunity to complete the PRES?
Participants have the opportunity to complete a digital PRES or a paper PRES. Their study team should provide each study participant with the opportunity to provide their feedback towards the end of the study. In Greater Manchester, we have recently adopted the myresearchexperience.com platform developed by our colleagues in CRN North East North Cumbria to offer the digital PRES in a variety of formats, any participant who may prefer to complete the PRES using paper can receive a paper copy of the questions and return them to the study team.
Can I view my organisations PRES responses?
Each Trust within CRN GM has a PRES lead(s) who have access to their local results via a Google Data Studio. They are able to view PRES results in almost real time, and the ability to download reports to share with their local teams.
