How to access RTS

How can my organisation access the data in RTS?

You can access the content in RTS via a set of JSON APIs.

You will need an account to be created for your organisation before you will be able to access the APIs.  In order to request an account, you will need to send an email to crncc-data-management@nihr.ac.uk with your details (including the email address for the account) and the IP range that needs to be whitelisted.  Once your account is created, you will receive an email from the RDN service desk with your account details.

Now I have access, how do I call the API?

This document contains examples of calls that can be made to the API to obtain organisation, site and termset data from RTS.

What kind of data can I access in RTS?

RTS contains data on most NHS organisations (via the NHS Digital Organisation Data Service) and most of the NIHR, including the relationships between organisations as well as UK charities, companies, universities and other organisations both in the UK and abroad. We can augment this with more if required.

As of February 2020, there are over 900 UK companies and 1000 UK charities in RTS.  There are also over 110,000 NHS organisations and 114,000 NHS sites from the Organisational Data Service in RTS.  New sites and organisations are added regularly and are available through the API.  In addition to the organisations and sites, there are over 16,000 terms in the RTS Termset.
