Research Delivery Manager Division Primary Care/HSDR/Public Health/Social Care lead
I am the research delivery manager for Primary care, public health, health service delivery research and lead for the network on the expanding important area of research in the broad social care setting.
As an RDM my ultimate role is to take a problem-solving approach working with colleagues to enable greater participation in research in these specialties and promote effective delivery.
I started my working career as a clinical nurse in Aintree hospitals many moons ago moving then into primary care. Over this time I completed various qualifications which then led me into the specialty of research where I have worked for over 20 years and my passion sits. I love the role I play, working with a fabulous team and linking with partner organisations that, despite being under pressure, understand the importance that research plays in improving health and social care provision for us all.
Research Operations Manager
Although I'm new to the role of Research Operations Manager, I am not new to the Network. I joined CRN: Yorkshire and Humber 8 years ago whilst completing my PhD in International History and Politics, and I have loved every second of it!
During those 8 years I have covered all 30 clinical specialties, but I have always particularly enjoyed working within Primary Care and I relish the opportunity to continue to learn and grow in my new role as Research Operations Manager for Primary Care, Public Health and HSDR.
I am particularly excited to be involved in developing and growing our non-NHS portfolio alongside an incredibly passionate and knowledgeable team here at CRN: North West Coast.
Research Facilitator
In 2018 I graduated with a degree in Psychology, having spent my third year conducting my own research study investigating memory, encoding, storage and retrieval. I loved the research aspect of my degree so much that I decided to work in R&D in a Secondary Care Trust. Here I learned all about research within the healthcare sector.
In 2022 I moved to the CRN Northwest Coast to become a Research Facilitator for Primary Care. My role involves identifying studies to open within the Northwest Coast, assisting with the setup of studies, supporting the studies throughout their lifecycle and supporting GPs with any queries they may have.
I look forward to learning more about the research offered in Primary Care, and working towards improving healthcare for all.
Research Administrator
I am the Primary Care Research Administrator joining the network at the end of March 2022 after relocating to Liverpool from Sheffield.
I have always worked in supportive administrative roles since leaving school starting at law firms and then within the NHS from 2016 as a medical secretary in clinical oncology. My interest in research really started when I joined the Adult Cystic Fibrosis service at Northern General Hospital as the PA for a consultant who was also Chief PI for a CF study. I worked with Universities, Trusts throughout the UK and research tech teams in Germany, I then became the Service Coordinator there working with lots of service data to develop the departments Service Improvement & Quality Improvement while also being the EMIS administrator.
Since joining the network I have really enjoyed it. The team are very supportive in sharing their knowledge and helping me to develop in this role to support the Primary Care Team and to work alongside the wider teams at practice.
Research Officer
I am the Research Officer for Social Care. I also support Primary Care, Public Health and Health Service Delivery Research.
My current role supports the set-up and delivery of Social Care, commercial and non-commercial studies in community settings such as schools, prisons and care homes but is not limited to these areas. This is a welcomed challenge for my personal development and a great opportunity to be a part of growing our Social Care portfolio.
I joined the NIHR in 2014 as a Research Governance Administrator for the Governance Team. In 2016, I moved to the Primary Care Team as their Research Administrator, initially supporting the delivery of All-Heart Study. This was an exciting opportunity and a great introduction to research in Primary Care and supporting GP practices.
I have since trained as an EDGE administrator for Primary Care and provide training and support to all practice staff across the region.
Being a part of the Primary and Social Care Team is very rewarding, I learn something new every day.
Research Nurse
I qualified as a nurse in 2017 from Edge Hill University and spent 4 years working in the community as a community staff nurse. This involved working alongside GPs and primary care patients in their own homes.
I have always been interested in the ‘Why’ we do things as nurses and where the evidence for our practice comes from. Therefore I became interested in research and looked at various studies - which lead me to where I am today with the primary care research team. I am a new member to the team and I am looking forward to learning so much more about research and helping to contribute to future evidence based practice.
I particularly enjoy working in primary care research as this is the background I know and love. I am looking forward to developing as a research nurse with the primary care team and getting involved in lots of new and exciting studies.
Senior Research Nurse
I did my nurse training at Warsaw Medical University. I qualified in September 2008. The month after, I was in Liverpool posting my documents to NMC. Registration arrived on the 22 December. What a great Christmas present! It was the beginning of my nursing adventure in the UK.
I worked in elderly care, Cardiac ITU and here I am now - a Primary Care Research Nurse.
When I joined CRN I thought I knew a lot about research but I could not be more wrong. 19 months later I am still learning something new every day. I feel very lucky to be able to work with very experienced and supportive research nurses for whom no question is a silly question!
I strongly believe that everything happens for a reason. I joined CRN 5 months before the pandemic started. I was not ready for this but it gave me an opportunity to support some very important studies which impacted lives all over the world. It makes me proud to work as a research nurse.
Research Nurse
I joined the CRN Task Force team [now Agile Delivery Team] in 2017 as a Generic Research Nurse following many years of being a Cardio/Respiratory Research Nurse within both Secondary and Primary Care, working on both commercial and non-commercial studies.
I enjoy being involved in research as it investigates how we can improve health care delivery and treatments for the benefits of our nation. I feel proud and quite privileged to be involved in studies that make a difference to our patients. Recently I have been involved with a trial for a new drug which has proved to be successful in treating patients with cardiomyopathy by improving symptoms of heart failure-the study is in open-label phase now, the next phase is to compare the new drug to existing medication- I look forward to seeing the outcome. I am now part of the Primary Care team and very much looking forward to being a part of research within this field.
Outside of work I like to spend time with my family and friends. I have a two year old Grandson who keeps me on my toes-we have all sorts of adventures, mostly pretending to be firemen, milkmen, shopkeepers and lawn mowers!
Senior Research Nurse
Qualified as a Nurse in 2001, jumped into research in 2005 & never looked back!
I have worked as a Research Nurse within NHS trusts, Primary Care settings and also for commercial companies- covering different therapeutic areas & different phases of drug development.
I enjoy the fast pace of vaccine studies, but I have a keen interest for respiratory studies.
I enjoy working in the Primary Care community because I get the chance to work with lots of different dedicated individuals in different organisations, which I can learn something new from every day. No day is ever the same in my role!
Research Operations Controller
I am the Research Operations Controller for Primary Care, Public Health, Health Services Research as well as research in social care settings.
I am also the ENRICH (Enabling Research in Care Homes) Lead for the North West Coast Research Network.
I work across commercial and non-commercial research in order to identify GP practices and sites in community settings such as care homes, prisons and schools who would like to be involved in particular areas of research.
I help with study start up for new researchers along with study support for sites during their time on a research study.
Previously I have worked in the NIHR with the Taskforce team assisting NHS trusts as a data administrator as well as the Industry Lead for commercial research in North west Coast. Overall I have worked in the NIHR for around 8 years.
