If you would like to express your interest in the Home Care Research Engagement Portal and RELEC, please complete the form
Find out what it means to support research in Home Care, and what the benefits are for you, your team and users of your services in participating in research.
This site will enable you and your team to understand the many benefits of getting involved in research, building a culture within your organisation that nurtures learning, innovation, creativity, solution finding and excellence. It is also worth noting that a small number of the CQC inspection framework’s Quality ‘We Statements’ are linked to research and evidence based practice, evaluation and monitoring.
Research may be health related around improving treatments, medications, understanding conditions better or it may be social care related, around the experience of supporting people to live well at home, maintain their independence and remain engaged with others and their community. Research may be relevant to the workforce, models of care delivery (e.g. new ways of delivering home care or home care for people with specific conditions like dementia), recruitment, retention, and the experience of social care practitioners today.
This site will help you access research evidence already out there that you may wish to implement into your training and service delivery. Growing numbers of research studies relevant to your Home Care service, the team who deliver care, and your service users and their families, are already available for you to explore.
You and your team may also find yourselves raising issues that you would like to see researched, you can be supported in designing research questions yourselves and learning how to engage in research activity and help drive relevant social care research in the future. You may wish to explore the research Career pathway for Social Care practitioners, the possibilities are endless.
This two part resource is designed to introduce research to Home Care managers, staff and people who use their services but is also helpful for those working in Home Care provision who have the support of their organisation to undertake primary research.
We hope it will be helpful for those working in Home Care in understanding the benefits of research and the support available to you.
Please note - Part 1 is accessible directly from the link above, should you wish to complete Part 2 and gain the certificate, you will need to create an account for NIHR Learn, instructions for this are outlined in the content for Part 1.
