Project 11 Updates

______________

Digital impact on research

_________

This workstream was initiated to agree and promote the scope of digital in terms of the potential to streamline delivery, but also provide a better user experience for those managing and participating in research. By the end of this project, we agreed on an approach to defining digital appropriately, that doesn't limit the possibilities that may evolve over the coming years. This provides a legitimate starting point for conversations with potential researchers seeking advice and guidance on how digital can both support and enhance their research ideas at the earliest point of engagement with the Clinical Research Network in the West Midlands.

Secondary Care clinical systems

_________

This report was compiled to address a long standing question posed to the Recruitment Optimisation Support Team (ROST) concerning the potential of replicating the health informatics (HI) support given to Primary Care sites, within the setting of Secondary Care. This question has been difficult to answer without an understanding of the data landscape in Secondary Care sites, including a measure of the complexity of clinical system layout between departments, as well as the general processes used to identify potentially eligible participants for research opportunities.

The scoping activity behind this report was carried out with a view to gaining a better understanding of how Secondary Care research is delivered, including how data is utilised now and how it could be better utilised in the future to aid identifying patients potentially eligible for research opportunities.

Creating a digital hub website for

Clinical Research Network West Midlands (CRN WM) staff

_________

Although we communicated with our wider CRN WM team with updates on local and national digital news through commonly used announcement tools via the Google suite, we didn't have a dedicated site to showcase our work, as well as a place for our team to easily access the many training materials we have produced over the last few years. The creation of an internal Google site was planned to meet those requirements.

The site is planned to be a revamp and extension of the existing ROST Resource Hub. The resource will continue to meet the requirements of our local ROST service in terms of sharing HI files with other Local Clinical Research Networks, as well as providing a home for the many HI training resources we have developed for our core Delivery Team in Primary Care.

_________

As part of this workstream, we looked to map our existing online resources alongside national websites in order to be able to plan a resource that not only adds value for our staff, but also compliments the other resources available online.
