Brightspace Questions?
For the past year, we provided an option in courses for faculty to include an Instructor Profile Widget, which provides students a quick way to see an instructor's name, profile picture and contact information. We received some great feedback and feature suggestions for the widget.
Starting at the conclusion of the Fall Semester, this feature will be enabled on all course homepages!
To set the information in your Instructor Profile, click on your name in the top right corner of Brightspace and choose 'Profile'. Enter whatever information you would like, and the information will automatically appear in the widget.
The widget is flexible and scalable. Share as much or as little information as you prefer. We do encourage you to at least add your profile picture and email address though!
Our team built this in-house, so if you have any ideas or suggestions for improvement, please reach out to us!
A warning now appears when you attempt to add an object (such as a link or image) in Brightspace Editor that has a path outside of the current course offering. The warning tooltip explains that if the item is copied to another course, the incorrect path would also be copied, potentially preventing learners from accessing the object.

As of October 1st, faculty, deans, and DIID staff must request course sharing through our new Etrieve form. Regardless of who initiates the request, the form will be routed to the original content developer for approval. Check out the form here, and bookmark the link for easy access in the future.

Grading workflows are now optimized in the quiz evaluation experience to improve instructor productivity.
Instructors can click the down arrow on the top right of the quiz grading page to expand the dialog used to turn on or turn off the new quiz evaluation experience. This feature is currently opt-in, and will become the default for all sometime in 2025.
You can now attach a rubric to a written resposne question inside of a quiz. This is a great option to evaluate your students since you cannot attach a rubric to an entire quiz in Brightspace. Note, you must use the New Quiz Evaluation Experience (above) to use this feature.
