Venue: Okazaki Conference Center
We are pleased to announce the second workshop dedicated to exploring kleptobiology, a remarkable phenomenon in which organisms utilize small molecules, proteins, and organelles from other species to enhance their own growth and survival. These include well-documented examples such as the reusing of toxic compounds by amphibians, the kleptoprotein phenomenon, and the extraordinary processes of kleptoplasty and kleptocnidy. This workshop will bring together leading experts, including Jessica Goodhart, a renowned specialist in kleptocnidy, to delve into these fascinating interspecies interactions. We are also broadly soliciting oral and poster presentations from researchers in this field. Following the recent "Kleptobiology & Photosymbiosis (KBP) Workshop" in the U.S. (Aug, 2024), this field is gaining recognition for its potential in synthetic biology and the bioeconomy, offering groundbreaking perspectives on interspecies interactions at the molecular and physiological levels.
