About Ms. Cheng

Hello all!

This is my third year at JLHS but I have taught in Los Angeles for a few years and have spent some time in Zambia, Africa, as well. I am a UCLA graduate from its Applied Mathematics undergrad program and Masters of Secondary Math Education graduate program. I love the outdoors, drawing and painting, soccer and running, yoga, and coffee and dessert.

Every year, I set my expectations high for all my students. I am understanding of students’ reservations about math, but I believe every student is capable of improving at least a few math skills and thereby become a stronger math student.

I believe in courtesy, and for 90% of appropriate scenarios, if you ask politely, I usually am agreeable. I believe in building strong classrooms of kind, wise, and growth-mindset individuals. Progress is important to me and I do not believe in giving up on any students! I intend to call/email home regularly for both positive and improvement type reports! Expect those!
