Hi Families! My name is Cathy Day and I am so excited to be your 4th grade teacher! 

I grew up here in Union City and  attended all New Haven schools as a child (Hillview Crest, Searles, Cesar Chavez, and James Logan). My dream was always to be a New Haven teacher, and I am so  fortunate to be able to teach here in the Union City community. 

I hold an AA degree in Fine Arts, a BA in Liberal Studies, and I hold two CA teaching credentials: a multiple subject credential and a single subject credential in foundational mathematics.  I have taught for 10 years at various schools across Union City at the elementary and middle school levels, and this is my fifth year teaching 4th grade here in room 27. Additionally,  I have worked in community recreational programming here in Union City for the last 16 years.  In the classroom, I'm passionate about setting high academic expectations for all students, making rigorous content accessible, and creating a collaborative community of initiative-takers! 

When I'm not teaching, I love  going to concerts or sneaking off to Disneyland as often as possible! I also enjoy arts activities (painting and ceramics), cooking, and running.

I can't wait to get to know all of the room 27 families this year!
