Evaluating Information: SIFT (The Four Moves)
What are the Four Moves?
Stop and think.
Investigate the source.
Find better coverage.
Trace claims, quotes, and media.
Why is it important to evaluate information?
A book, article, or website is not always a reputable source of information just because it matches your search terms and appears to be helpful to your research. A website or video may seem like a great resource to you at first, but if it is misleading in any way it will not be useful to you and your research project. Use the SIFT method to evaluate your search results.
