This curriculum map is a constantly monitored and edited document by building specific administration and teachers. Changes may occur throughout the school year to stay updated with state requirements. Any questions regarding content should be directed towards the teacher of your child’s class or content area.
During the first nine weeks, students learned the RACECE paragraph structure and used them to respond to nonfiction and fiction texts. Students will read Greek myths to study character and plot development (fiction). Students will read "The Giver" in class and focus on vocabulary, analyzing writing, plot/setting/ character development, and creating predictions and inferences. Students will completing comprehension activities and will be creating a Utopia project where they will create their own Utopia and compare it to the society in "The Giver". Students will complete a variety of Read Works assignments in order to develop skills in finding and citing pieces of evidence to support their claims or responses to the nonfiction articles.
