I am Stephanie Tew, your School Library Media Specialist at Wrightsboro Elementary School. After growing up in Wilmington, NC, I graduated from East Carolina University in 1987 with a degree in Elementary Education and Reading Certification and began teaching third graders in Pitt County. I earned my Masters degree in Elementary Education from East Carolina University in 1989 while teaching. After teaching third graders in Pitt County, I was trained in Reading Recovery then moved to New Hanover County in 1998 to teach first graders and then third graders. I earned my National Board Certification in 1999 and have twice renewed.
I earned my NC AIG add-on license and served as the Gifted Education Specialist at Forest Hills Global Elementary School then as the Instructional Coach. I am looking forward to a great year of learning and growing while supporting students, teachers and parents as Wrightsboro Cool Cats' Media Specialist! Let us all strive to explore media that mirrors our lives so that we can learn more about ourselves, media that provides windows to others' lives so that we can learn more about the world and create harmony between the two.
