There is one rule in library that encompasses just about everything:
BE KIND - to others, to our materials, and to yourself.
Consequences are as follows:
Verbal Warning (Everyone makes mistakes! Let's get back on track.)
Time away from activity (Calm down area, a minute of reflection until ready to join the group.)
Written reflection and communication with household.
Kindergarten students are allowed to have 1 book checked out at any given time.
First, second, and third grade students are allowed to have 2 books checked out at any given time.
Fourth and fifth grade students are allowed to have 4 books checked out at any given time.
Students may visit the media center before school (7:20-7:40) to exchange books outside of their designated library time, and during the school day as their classroom teacher permits on their Music week.
Please use soft voices and be respectful of other patrons using the media center.
Handle all books, materials, and equipment with care.
Gum, food, and beverages should be consumed outside the media center.
Overdue Books
Students may not check out a new book until they return what they have checked out. If a book lost or returned damaged beyond repair, a $10 donation to the library to help replace the book is encouraged.
Follett Destiny
Students can search for books in the library’s catalog both at school and at home. Navigate to https://nhcs.follettdestiny.com and click on Winter Park Elementary School.
The catalog can be searched by title, author, subject, or keyword. Remember to write down the TITLE and the CALL NUMBER of the item(s) you want.
Students can view their circulation information (checkouts, overdues, etc.) by going to Destiny's OPAC and clicking on the Login tab at the top right corner of the screen. Students will need to enter their User Name [first name].[last name] and Password (10 digit PowerSchool #) in order to view their account.
