Welcome to our Howe Pre-K classroom! Mrs. Veronica and Ms. Lavanda are excited to be your child’s teachers this year. We look forward to getting to know you and your child as we grow together as a classroom family.
Our focus will be on kindness, helping one another, and building important skills that support learning and prepare children for Kindergarten. We value strong partnerships with families and look forward to working closely with you throughout your child’s educational journey.

About the teachers
Mrs. Veronica:
I'm 27 years old originally from Venice, Italy! I got my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education in 2020 and began to work as a teacher later that year. I then moved to Wilmington three years ago.
Italian is my native language. I began learning English when I was 8 years old. I LOVE pizza, gelato and going to the beach.
Ms. Lavanda:
Hi my name is Lavanda Melvin and I have been in the field of early childhood for almost forty years. I began working in this field right out of high school and have loved it. I come from a big family of nine girls.
I went into this field because of my love for children and have stayed for that same reason.
We do not go into education for the money for we can never be paid our worth, but we go into it for the children because we can see their worth.

Teaching Strategies Family:
Teaching Strategies will serve as our primary family communication platform at Howe. Families will access it through the Teaching Strategies Family App. You will receive your login information by email or text message. This platform will be used to share our targeted instruction connected to district-wide studies. It is also where you will communicate with us, share photos or videos of your child, and receive weekly activity plans.
