Course Objectives

Quarter Grades
The students will be evaluated on their performance in tests, quizzes, homework, classwork, and projects. The grading scale is a 10 point system with 90-100 being an A, 80-89 a B, and 70-79 a C, and 60-69 a D. Anything lower than a 60 will result in a failing grade. A breakdown of my specific class categories are as follows:
*Tests – 30%
*Quizzes - 20%
*Projects – 20%
*Classwork -20%
*Homework – 10%
Classroom Rules
The following are some of the guidelines and expectations in
my classes: Rules and Responsibilities
A. Tardiness - Students are to be in their seats when the bell rings. If a student is tardy, he/she will be initially given a warning. Continued tardiness in class will result in school documentation and lunch detention.
B. Materials - Students need to be prepared with supplies each class period.
C. Late assignments - All work is due at the beginning of each class. Daily assignments will not be accepted late. At the teacher’s discretion, it is possible that longer term assignments may be accepted with an accompanying late reduction.
D. Absentee Make-up Work - When students are absent from school, they have one day for each excused absence to complete the work. If an assignment was given in advance, and the due date occurs during the absence, the assignment will be due the day the student returns to school.
E. Respect/Courtesy - Students are expected to be courteous to both student and teachers. The class should remain seated, unless otherwise notified.
F. Cheating - All students are expected to complete their own work. No student shall receive or have given aid on tests or quizzes. If caught cheating, student’s parents will be contacted and a new test or quiz will be given and a description of the incident will be written in our discipline log at school of this infraction.
G. Discipline Plan
Specific steps will be taken to help curtail discipline problems in the classroom. If a child does not adhere to a specific rule, they will initially be given a warning and parent contacted with a note documented in our discipline system. Upon the second offense, the student will be given an action plan sheet and referred to an administrator. This action will be documented in our school discipline log (ABE). After a third offense, the student will be dealt with by the administrative staff and sent to our ISS room. If the problem(s) persist, parents and administrators will again be notified and the administrative staff will follow the school guidelines for discipline.
H. Teacher Support
I will provide any assistance to children after school (when available). This can include any days needed if discussed with the teacher. We will also have designated lunch days where students can get help in their specific core area. In that case, the students will be notified of those type of situations.
I. Classroom
Students will have the chance to work in both large/small group
settings, with a focus on group dynamics. They will also have the opportunity to utilize new and exciting software and multi-media products to integrate with the curriculum.
