Students will receive a progress report every three weeks and a report card every nine weeks. Numerical grades will be given for all assignments, quizzes, tests, progress reports, and report cards. Our class is graded on a 10 point scale:
100 to 90 = A
89 to 80 = B
79 to 70 = C
69 to 60 = D
Below 60 = F
Report cards will reflect students' progress towards grade level standards. They will also note the strengths of each student and areas that we are currently working to improve. Grades can also be checked online through the Parent Portal. Students will also be checking their grades in Power School regularly to stay up-to-date on any missing or incomplete assignments. We encourage parents and guardians to set up a conference time with me to discuss progress reports and report cards in greater detail.
Students participate in progress monitoring through NC Check-Ins for English/Language Arts and Mathematics, which helps identify skills that students have mastered or need further remediation. There are three NC Check-Ins throughout the school year. Parents are welcomed and encouraged to meet with teacher to discuss academic progress and how we can work together to support students' learning.
