Welcome to the 2023-2024 school year at Roland Grise Middle School! We are excited to have such an excellent group of intelligent, driven, and respectful young people at our school this year.
What is AIG?
New Hanover County Schools want to ensure that all students are being challenged and supported to grow academically and creatively. To this end, NHCS supports a gifted and talented education program throughout its K-12 schools. The Gifted Education Specialist (GES) is assigned to a school to support its gifted students as well as those who show potential. The GES works closely with classroom teachers and elective teachers to ensure there are a wide variety of high-interest and rigorous opportunities to keep students engaged and growing.
Students can be nominated for the AIG program at any time at any level by parents, friends, staff, or the student themselves. The NHCS nomination process is uniform across the county. The same data collection tools and Match Team selection processes are used in all schools. Please see the Slides below for more info.
About me:
I'm originally from Kinston, NC and came to Wilmington to attend UNCW. This school year marks my 14th year in education, all in NHCS. During that time I've taught 9 years of high school Spanish, 3 years of middle school Health & PE, and starting my 2nd year as an AIG Specialist. I'm a big soccer fan and have coached soccer for 20 years in some capacity (club, middle school, and high school).
I'm excited to be at Roland Grise, and I look forward to continue helping our students be the best that they can be. If you need to contact me my information is below, and email works best as I'm usually moving throughout the building.
